sudents at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High may not have to return to the three-story building that was the site of the deadliest school shooting in Florida history.
The school district has proposed tearing down the building on campus that housed freshmen, Broward Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie said Friday. It was the spot where many of the 17 students and faculty were murdered Wednesday by a gunman with an AR-15-style weapon. Former student Nikolas Cruz has been charged with the killings.
Weve received numerous requests from parents, students, community members and local elected officials that they would like the building demolished and some memorial resurrected on the site, Runcie said.

Tear all of Broward county down....
still insane.
Dumbest reaction to tragedy, and a new "tradition" that emerged in the last few generations.
Why not?
It makes idiots and bureaucrats feel better, and it's only working non-government taxpayer money (not theirs) and who cares??
Rather than honor the heroes, and the dead by keeping the School open (and changing the school name), they immortalize the insane killers.
American society has gone totally bonkers.
Respect and Kudos, to a mentally healthy community in a formerly mentally healthy state...

Sure I eff'd up, but accepted the consequences; it's called 'growing up.'
I have pleasant memories of all my school years...

That noted, go ahead and define what you characterize as accepting reality, and what you characterize as fixing stupidity, in relation to schools.
It would be a whole lot cheaper and much more meaningful than a new school.
And honor the fallen with a special area of remembrance. Let evil know that it cannot tear down your school but serve to make it stronger.

$30 million with Republican participation and that doesn’t include any replacement building that will also be needed: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5403767/Building-students-shot-dead-torn-down.html
Fine! The people who want it torn down get out your checkbooks and start writing.
Funny, when it’s OUR money let’s knock it down and rebuild.
If they thought they would have to pay for it we would hear, whoa! Let’s not anything crazy here!
Put it on the ballot. If approved, pull a bond, for the people that school serves, and go ahead with the rebuild.
