We keep hearing, we need to have a national conversation about guns, and then we keep hearing statements from those same voices that are simply not true.
If were going to have that national conversation, I want the other side to do its homework first.
I dont want to hear CNN lamenting that Florida doesnt require a concealed carry permit for an AR-15 or shotgun. (They are too large to conceal.) I dont want to hear people referring to the AR-15 as an automatic assault weapon and I want them to learn the difference between automatic and semiautomatic, and which kind is already illegal. I dont want to hear about the gun show loophole unless the shooter purchased his gun at a gun show... I want former presidents to stop asserting that its easier for a teenager to buy a Glock than buy a computer...
If someone wants to ban AR-15s, I want them to say so.
I also want to know what they want to do about the 5 million to 10 million AR-15s already in private hands. I want them to realize that if they dont grandfather in the already-owned ones, they will instantly turn millions of law-abiding Americans, who have never fired a shot in anger, into criminals. If a gun control advocate proposes a buyback program like Australias, I want that person to recognize that the compliance rate ... was about 20 percent and it created a violent black market....
If a gun control advocate calls for law enforcement to confiscate AR-15s from private homes, I want that person to realize that theyre calling for...chaos.
And I want them to know that as long as groups advocate ideas like this, the line no one wants to take away your guns is a ... lie.

And how about we add to that, the pharmaceutical companies putting out drugs that they know will cause suicidal and homicidal thoughts, and the fact that doctors prescribe them like someone giving out Halloween candy.

If we get back to basics-and the fact that some will-and can-kill with anything, the answer to everything is HANDS. Without hands crime is almost nil. Inanimate objects must be utilized by hands, otherwise they just lay there and hurt no one.

Ohhh, yes. The pharmaceutical companies!! The shameless advertising of drugs is sickening. Take this to cure this-it could give you all this and kill you( thus ending your original problem)! It's still up to the doctors-face to face- to prescribe tho. As long as they're making $$ from patient insurance, the government, and pharma kickbacks most don't give a damn,IMO. Everything can be handled with a pill! If psychiatrists hadn't given up the IDEA of aberrancy and human evil-and treating it as such-doing the hard work of psychiatric care OR declaring someone hopelessly disordered, pills are a too-easy fix.
Still it leaves us with dangerous, bats##t crazy people threatening society on a daily basis. Ya gotta deal with the rattlesnakes around you before you hunt for the nest.

“Guns are the line in the sand.”
The American government abdicated protecting citizens in the 1950’s with the Warren Court. Executions are rare, and liberals advocate glorified time out’s for crimes that don’t violate their PC religion. They want to take our guns and give us nothing back but vulnerability to the marauders they refuse to punish. Many of us have defended our homes and families against those marauders with our our firearms.

"I want them to realize that if they dont grandfather in the already-owned ones,..."
Not so great. The author is offering a compromise that will lead to confiscation. A law to confiscate with amnesty turn-ins, deadlines, etc., would come soon after. Allow them to be outlawed in exchange for grandfathering, and you will be next.
Rifle owners investigated or arrested for anything minor and unrelated would be publicized as extremely dangerous rifle owners. Their ARs would be put on display in the news. We've seen this before during the '90s. People who possessed "grandfathered" rifles would then be rather inhibited against taking them out to use them for practice, sports or anything else. Any use for self-defense would be unsuccessful in courts because of the mass brainwashing that would ensue.

We've already HAD that conversation, AND THE LIBERALS LOST !
There are MANY good suggestions to solve this school shooting problem.
But to change the HEARTS of most, you must return the public school system back to the methods that our Founding Fathers used.
And the very first book they used to teach people with, was the BIBLE !
The BIBLE MUST RETURN INTO OUR PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM !
Congressional resolution, September 12, 1782, endorsing Robert Aitken's Bible [page 468]
David C. Claypoole, 1782 from the Journals of Congress
The war with Britain cut off the supply of Bibles to the United States with the result that
on Sept. 11, 1777, Congress instructed its Committee of Commerce to import 20,000 Bibles from "Scotland, Holland or elsewhere."
On January 21, 1781, Philadelphia printer Robert Aitken (1734-1802) petitioned Congress
to officially sanction a publication of the Old and New Testament
which he was preparing at his own expense.
Congress "highly approve the pious and laudable undertaking of Mr. Aitken,
as subservient to the interest of religion . . . in this country, and . . . they recommend this edition of the bible to the inhabitants of the United States."
This resolution was a result of Aitken's successful accomplishment of his project.
Aitkens Bible
Aitken published Congress's recommendation of September 1782 and related documents (Item 115)
as an imprimatur on the two pages following his title page.
Aitken's Bible, published under Congressional patronage,
was the first English language Bible published on the North American continent.
"The Bible of the American Revolution"
As long as the United States remained under British rule,
the British government forbade the printing of Bibles in America.
When the Colonies declared their independence,
the importation of Bibles became restricted
and by 1777 there was a severe shortage of Bibles in America.
On September 11, 1777, this shortage of Bibles was brought to the attention of the Continental Congress
by its chaplain, Dr. Patrick Allison.
He said in his report that Bibles were urgently needed because, the use of the Bible is so universal and its importance so great
and on Dr. Allisons advice, Congress passed a resolution
to make every attempt to import 20,000 Bibles in Englishfrom Holland, Scotland, or elsewhere, into the different parts of the Union.
The importation of Bibles soon proved to be nearly impossible
and the Continental Congress had to search for another alternative
to supply the population with their most important book.
On January 21, 1781, the noted colonial printer Robert Aitken petitioned Congress
for both sanction and support for the production of a complete Bible for the American people
and a committee was immediately formed to determine
if Aitken were qualified to produce a book of such significance.
Aitkens impressive credentials (he had, among other things, been the publisher of the Journals of Congress for the first Congress
and published numerous articles by Thomas Paine)
convinced the committee and on September 10, 1782,
a Congressional Resolution was adopted granting Aitken permission and financial support
for the printing of the first edition of the first American Bible.
George Washington, one of the greatest supporters of the Aitken Bible, was so pleased with the result
that he regretted that the Revolutionary troops had been disbanded
before he could provide them with such an appropriate symbol of his gratitude.
Writing to a friend, Washington lamented, "It would have pleased me well,
if Congress had been pleased to make such an important present
(a copy of the Aitken Bible) to the brave fellows,
who have done so much for the security of their Country's rights and establishment."
The printing of the new Bible marked a significant moment in the history of the United States.
More American versions of the Bible soon followed
and, no longer subject to British editions of the Bible, the United States was,
for the first time, able to fully express the freedom of religion held so dearly by the population.
The Aitken Bible was championed by the people
and symbolized a dramatic release from British, and indeed government control,
over their right and ability to worship.
I also found out that the Aitken 1782 Holy Bible was called by Congress the

Although 10,000 copies of the Aitken Bible were printed, the first printing is extraordinarily scarce today.
20th-century estimates place the number of extant copies between 30-40, with possibly five (certainly no more than ten) in private hands.
It is one of the worlds rarest books, significantly rarer than even the Gutenberg Bible.
The photo of the copy to the left is an extraordinarily scarce first edition,
one of approximately 30 known copies (with perhaps only five in private hands),
of the first English Bible printed in America,
the first and only Bible ever to be printed with Congressional approval.
An absolutely extraordinary copy of a most rare and important volume.

Their targets isn’t JUST the AR’s. IMO.
They ant EVERY gun down to someone’s Red Ryder BB gun taken away.
The real discussion needs to be about the high number of mental problems that are imbedded in every part of our society....from the lowest among the homeless, thru & up to the highest Billionaires.
The gun isn’t doing this damage by itself-—never has & never will. We all know people who have guns & HAVE HAD GUNS for years who are not a threat to anyone. The have NOT been a threat & they WILL NOT be a threat. MY family had 7 or 8 long guns that were always on the wall & ammo was always near by. OUR PARENTS fought constantly-—but I never thought either of them would grab a gun-—and neither did any of my 3 brothers think such. NEVER came across our minds. I promise you, those fights were high energy & nasty. BUT we never feared a gun would enter the fray.
Gun owners hunt—they live outside the densely populated cities, and they live where they know how they have & CAN take care of themselves. They are NOT asking for hourly deputy drive by attention. They are a vast part of the wide open areas in this country where “WE DO NOT CALL 911”. Because they DO know how to take care of themselves, the bad parts of our population tend to leave them alone. Where I live, many homeowners have weapons. A call for a deputy can take over 20 minutes easily for a response. We are vulnerable until hat deputy arrives, so we know how to take care of ourselves.
I fully realize that there are females & some males in the USA that feel that NO ONE should EVER have weapons of any kind. I am also convinced that :
A. They have never been around people that DO own weapons...so they have no ACTUAL reference point. They become parrots of those who wish to control the whole country, and they do NOT realize that.
B; They have been ‘taken care of’ their entire lives, often in wealthy situations. Therefore-—’NO ONE’ has ever put them into a threatening situation, and they have not been trained or alerted to take care of themselves. It is someone else’s job to keep taking care of them. They are fully convinced that the ‘cops will be there in seconds’ and that because they live behind guarded gates, guarded doormen, etc, that they are not vulnerable. They have absolutely NO STREET SENSE. Their exposure to any danger is minimized by doorman—cabs—private limos—first class—private planes—bodyguards-—you name it.
While these people literally scream for gun control, they are totally unwilling to even address the crazy aunt in the attic in their own family. Those are more legendary than any of us think. And they are more numerous than we even want to think about.
In the past few years, when a shooting involving more than 3 people happens, the aftermath comes back: “There were mental problems with _________-—or WE didn’t think this would happen.” Even when a situation ends up with cameras fully showing what happened, family members keep saying ‘”you should have handled that differently”. The DENIAL in many parts of the USA population doesn’t help at all.
The mental problems in this country need to be addressed——not the people who have weapons that have never caused a problem.
Until this country is willing to tell the ACLU to STFU and we re-open the mental hospitals & pull these people OUT of circulation, this will continue.
The people who have never caused a problem are being blamed & punished for the actions of these mental cases. For those of us who grew up with siblings, we all remember all too well how much it would upset us that WE got blamed for something one of our siblings actually did. This is no different. WE are being punished for something WE DID NOT DO.
Years ago, when I lived in So Calif, I knew a man who came to America with his mother from Hungary. He was there when the Nazis came into their town & started taking all their weapons. The Nazi’s knew EXACTLY WHERE every weapon was becuse they all were registered in the local police station. He watched carefully, as the Nazi’s went from this house to that house & confiscated those registered weapons. The town was under Nazi control in a matter of hours. He never did tell me HOW he & his mother got out & got to America, but every time any of this was discussed, his face clouded over & his eyes went very far away, reliving what he witnessed that night. Otherwise, he was a delight to be around & I am sorry I didn’t pend more time with him before I moved out of So Cal. A move which was pushed by my increasing feeling that I was NO LONGER safe there.

People who don’t believe in the constitution are INCAPABLE of understanding the difference between automatic and SEMIautomatic. You could not possibly explain it to them. They are the same kind of people who believe that carbon dioxide, without which we would all die, is a “pollutant”.
