Federal and state laws make it almost impossible to keep a student out of school. I know of a case where a student threatened to kill a teacher at one school and was merely transferred to another school without alerting teachers in the other school.

Some districts have detention schools, but districts have to jump through hoops to have students placed in them.

This all comes under the concept of preventing any and all discrimination. Discrimination is, due to extremely punitive laws, the fire breathing dragon that all school districts have to contend with at every level.

Interesting comment.

It seems that there should be well defined protocols that administrators must follow when they become aware of threats to the safety of children in their schools. Administrators are, for the most part, liberal minded mini-bureaucrats who need to be told how to do their jobs. They need to be held accountable for their failure to take every legal measure to protect students.

He very well may have had an IEP because of his autism and other problems. That would mean a very long process mean to safeguards his rights under federal and state education laws.
If he did and still was expelled that shows just how much of threat the school believed him to be.

I would like to see a layout of the school. Because I am wondering how he was able to wonder freely through the halls. Are people allowed to just freely come and go on the campus? If not, how is the movement of non-students controlled?

My first wife (deceased) recounted how at high school she was backed in a corner by a big kid with a knife.

He got suspended for the rest of the day. She should have quit—but she liked the crazy job.
