Teachers were warned in advance about the teenager who allegedly carried out a mass shooting at his former school in Florida, US media are reporting.
Nikolas Cruz has been charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder following the deadliest shooting at a US school since 2012.
A teacher said Mr Cruz was not allowed on campus with a backpack.
Seventeen people were killed in the attack and many more injured. Several people are in a critical condition. Mr Cruz, 19, apparently left the scene of the shooting by blending in with fleeing students, but was arrested several miles away and is now in police custody. What was the warning?
Maths teacher Jim Gard told the Miami Herald that school authorities had emailed teachers about Mr Cruz's behaviour.
"We were told last year that he wasn't allowed on campus with a backpack on him," Mr Gard told the Miami Herald. "There were problems with him last year threatening students, and I guess he was asked to leave campus."

He escaped the school campus by blending in with other kids running away from the scene. With 4500 kids on that campus, he probably was NOT the only kid wearing a maroon/burgundy shirt yesterday.

Here in NC students can go to public high school up to and including the age of 21.
You beat me to the post of this very relevant question, was he a “DREAMER”? Brought to this country, through no fault of his own, at a young age. To coin an overused phrase.
Keep you eyes peeled for discussion of his background for the prior 17 or so of his 19 years on this planet. If no detailed is shared on this background, you can be assured that the odds of his sick ass being a Dreamer goes way up.
Not to worry. The MSM has it all figured out. Just heard a little blurb on the radio that they've just discovered that Cruz was a "White Nationalist".
When I posted my remarks about the incident, all I wanted was for more people to see that the FBI had better have some answers about this, because they had enough info to make an investigation.

Yep...I read that earlier. I want to know exactly what the Feebs did between the first interview and today’s interview...sit on their thumbs? Did they “allow” this to happen? How many more “ticking time bombs” is the FBI aware of?
There is one important issue here. Why so many have, as part of their “value system,” that it OK to express one’s anger by shooting people. The angry person feels that killing other people is an acceptable thing to do.
The left has done all it could to destroy value systems, by destroying the family and Christianity.
I wanted some answers also, and I don’t know whether you noticed it or not, there is a whole thread under breaking news, where many people are now asking questions.

Lots of things, he made online threats. Every student and teacher in the school knew he was a danger. The FBI was informed about him. He had a past of bringing ammunition to school and getting into fights.
So what to do? Howzabaout no FBI managed to interview him despite having his name and address? From there, you learn about the recent dead mommy and him crashing with friends and maybe arrange mental health intervention. With a mental health intervention (adjudicated) you get him to not pass a background check for guns and you have him in a nutcracker now for any new violations.
Any menacing posts, stopping by the school, etc you lock him up.
There is a whole lot that can be done..... but you have to not be lazy or carry a leftist concern about not locking up a mentally ill type.
The kid threatened to shoot up a school on a YouTube website 6 months ago. The FBI were called, did a cursory interview with the reporter, and still he was able to pull this off. I would think that should warrant some flags, and you'd think the school officials would've been interviewed and confirmed this kid was indeed a menace and a threat. Somebody dropped the ball either the FBI or school administration (probably citing some school privacy "policy").
Why haven’t I heard a single word about his parents?

I say the same thing. There are the electronic signs all over Houston “238 Road Deaths this year!” - ok... imagine Houston, with 5,000,000 in the metro area, most taking multiple road trips per day. Let’s just cut that in half, 2.5 million people, and we’ll figure, half of those are drivers, and I’ll be generous and say 2 people per car. That’s 1.25 million cars - on one trip at least per day. There’s been 46 days, so at 1.25 million drivers per day, that’s 57,500,000 drivers so far this year.
One half of one million people have died in roadway wrecks in Texas - not just Houston, in TEXAS. That’s a rounding error.

Well it did seem that a screaming yragedy took shape and yet there were fails at myriad levels. I don’t care if he was hanged in public tomorrow, a heartless society plays through its members like this and that wouldn’t stop it without other things set right. It’s enough, I think, for even God to beg for us to become full on socialist liberals with all the downsides, rather than not care at all, which is worse.
