Former cop sues NYPD, claims job made him obese
Maybe it was the doughnuts.
A morbidly obese city cop got a hefty pension when he retired on disability at age 43, but hes still hungry for more dough so hes suing the NYPD, claiming the job left him corpulent.
"The job is like a tyrant, said ex-NYPD Officer Jose Vega, who is 5-foot-10 and tips the scales at 360 pounds. I went from 250 to 395 pounds in one year I guarantee you, as small as you are, you eat more than me, he told a Post reporter Tuesday,
Insisting it was the slew of health problems caused by the stress of his former police job that led to his mass weight gain, not his eating habits. Vega, 46, a former Marine, said that when he first joined the department in 1997, he weighed in at a svelte 180 pounds. My goal was to become a first-grade detective and homicide detective, he said.
But they brainwashed you. Go out and make arrests. The job would emphasize arrests without concern for any officers heath, said the former cop, who worked in the Bronxs 42nd Precinct.

Being a “large” person myself, okay a FAT guy, I think all LEOs that are “out in the field” must be in shape to be able to chase bad guys, jump fences, wrestle them to the ground.
They should be made to pass an annual physical test. Weight isn’t necessarily the issue. Can they do the job! Big, small, fat or skinny, doesn’t matter if you are physically able to do the job.
perfect cartoon for this thread
“daily regimen included running 10 miles a day,
1000 sit ups, 500 trunk twists, weight lifting and a quart of ice cream a day.”
Where did he find the time to eat the ice cream ?
This is about 2 hours of running, about an hour and a half of sit ups, 30 minutes of trunk twists and then some on top of that ?
Yeah I call shenanigans.
I’m not sure if it’s modern living or something else. Most former military guys I know are obese, some teetering on the morbidly obese category. I’m talking 35-45 year old adults.
My grandfather was WWII Army and he was skinny up till the day he died.
I personally think the processed foods we eat and the modern inanimate lifestyles that engulf our world is what contributes to it.
In reality it was his molars.....
Wow. I’m amazed at the audacity of some people.
This is ridiculous.
You’re probably right on all of those reasons. I’m pretty sure you are.
