Former cop sues NYPD, claims job made him obese
Maybe it was the doughnuts.
A morbidly obese city cop got a hefty pension when he retired on disability at age 43, but hes still hungry for more dough so hes suing the NYPD, claiming the job left him corpulent.
"The job is like a tyrant, said ex-NYPD Officer Jose Vega, who is 5-foot-10 and tips the scales at 360 pounds. I went from 250 to 395 pounds in one year I guarantee you, as small as you are, you eat more than me, he told a Post reporter Tuesday,
Insisting it was the slew of health problems caused by the stress of his former police job that led to his mass weight gain, not his eating habits. Vega, 46, a former Marine, said that when he first joined the department in 1997, he weighed in at a svelte 180 pounds. My goal was to become a first-grade detective and homicide detective, he said.
But they brainwashed you. Go out and make arrests. The job would emphasize arrests without concern for any officers heath, said the former cop, who worked in the Bronxs 42nd Precinct.

How dare they expect employees to do their jobs.
Typical union member.
Yep.
So if making arrests stresses you out, you don't have to make them?
You would win your bet if you reread the article, lol. He was 180 when he exited the USMC.
Liar
“My cheat days are Mondays...”
...when he eats 100,000 calories, apparently.
According to the article, he eats like a runway model (green tea, fruit and steamed vegetables)... so I am calling B.S. If (and I say “if”) he is eating low caloric foods... and he is gaining weight.. there is more medically going on. Stress can make you over eat just like stress can make you under eat... IMHO, he wants the two plus grand a month more.
Its always someone elses fault.
I Wish The Chief Wouldn't Make Us Eat So Many Donuts.

Yep, the thermodynamics doesn’t add up. He needs 2000 calories per day to run his body (probably 3000 for him). Unless he spends all day outdoors with a giant solar panel on his head to get that energy, he won’t be getting the energy he needs to run his body on his claimed diet, and he WILL be losing weight, and quite quickly.
Being a Marine is stressful. How come he didn’t become obese then?
Dad was NYPD. He worked in Fort Apache. The four one. He retired in 68.
He was Italian and we had pasta more than once a week. He never did regular gym work. He was never fat as a cop. He put on a little weigh afterwards but never obese. He walked a beat. Make them walk beats.
Great scene.
Should have never been hired as an already obese 250 at 5’10”...should have been fired when he got morbidly obese...
