The former student suspected of opening fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland may have been identified as a potential threat to fellow students in the past, according to one teacher.
The 19-year-old ex-student, who has been detained by Broward police, has not been publicly identified as a suspect. But a law-enforcement source identified him as Nicolas Cruz.
We were told last year that he wasnt allowed on campus with a backpack on him, said math teacher Jim Gard, who said Cruz had been in his class last year. There were problems with him last year threatening students, and I guess he was asked to leave campus.
The Broward County School District Superintendent, however, told reporters on Wednesday afternoon that he did not know of any concerns raised about the student.

Guess he doesn’t have parentS. Mother died a year ago. Something “off” about his father. Seems that he was/is basically raising himself.
“The school does have police. They must have been on break”
One of the students said a security guard had saved many lives. He was shot and taken to the hospital, and the kid said the word is that he died. Not sure if he was referring to a cop when he said “police”.
>>>Gee - I sure hope he wasnt a Dreamer....<<<
I do...
Any DREAMER status on this guy yet?
“Cant wait to see the news tonight. Im sure the liberals will be loaded for bear to resume the gun control debate.”
A few, but not many. They actually want to WIN in November.
Another article on FR says he was adopted at birth. The adoptive father died awhile ago (ten years ago?) and the adoptive mother died 3.5 months ago at the age of 68. He has a younger brother that was also adopted by the family (I’m guessing a step-brother).
He had lived with relatives after the death of his mom, and had recently moved back to this school area to live with a family that knew him. The family allowed him to bring his guns - but to keep it in a gun safe - although the kid did have the key.
Seems like there were lots of warning signs. That is one thing about schools that should change I think. Instead of just treating threats or bullying or theft “in-house”, they need to get the police involved imho.
Yes. Let a phalanx of lawyers get filthy rich. My favorite people ( do I have to say Sarc?)
