Nicolas Cruz was adopted as an infant. His mother just died this past November. Her obituary has a photo of her holding him as a newborn. So sad for everyone involved.

Here is a link with many comments. One mentioned that both parents were dead, and one only recently. He was 19, so perhaps considered an adult with no need for social services. One comment said his name was Nikolas.
