Iran accuses West of using lizards for nuclear spying

Adviser to Khamenei says aid collectors for Palestinians sought to deploy reptiles whose skin 'attracted atomic waves'

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The former chief-of-staff of Iran’s armed forces said Tuesday that Western spies had used lizards to “attract atomic waves” and spy on his country’s nuclear program.

It was the latest in a long line of incidents of Western countries, including Israel, being accused of deploying secret agents from the animal kingdom.

Hassan Firuzabadi, senior military adviser to supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was responding to questions from local media on the recent arrest of environmentalists.

He said he did not know the details of the cases, but that the West had often used tourists, scientists and environmentalists to spy on Iran.

“Several years ago, some individuals came to Iran to collect aid for Palestine… We were suspicious of the route they chose,” he told the reformist ILNA news agency.

“In their possessions were a variety of reptile desert species like lizards, chameleons… We found out that their skin attracts atomic waves and that they were nuclear spies who wanted to find out where inside the Islamic Republic of Iran we have uranium mines and where we are engaged in atomic activities,” he said.

Firuzabadi said Western spy agencies had “failed every time.”

His comments came after news that a leading Iranian-Canadian environmentalist, Kavous Seyed Emami, had committed suicide in prison after he was arrested along with other members of his wildlife NGO last month.

Several spying allegations involving various creatures have been leveled against Israel over the past years.

In January 2016, Lebanese residents captured a griffon vulture wearing an Israeli tracking device, but released it upon realizing that the transmitter strapped to the bird was intended for scientific research rather than espionage.

Several months earlier, Hamas claimed to have caught a dolphin wearing Israeli spying equipment.

Twice in recent years, Turkish media has highlighted allegations that birds tagged with Israeli university tracking devices were on espionage missions.

In 2012, an eagle with an Israeli tag in Sudan was captured and alleged to be as a Mossad spy.

Two years earlier, an Egyptian official said Israel-controlled sharks may have been involved in a number of attacks on tourists in the Red Sea.

They maybe only have pizza on weekends, but that’s okay, because we weren’t going to get any. We only got strawberries.

Strawberries from a strawberry farm? Exciting concept, that!

I’m off for the night, now! See you tomorrow...

“Turn dis fing ON!”

Good morning. I think. I’ve been up an hour, but since my hugh box of herbal supplements came yesterday (no more BP meds, but I have enough to last almost 18 months) so I had to redo the pill list and also, since it was time to refill the sorter, I did that, too.

I had plans (again) to go to the Other Walmart, but the weather page said there is a 100% chance of rain again. It rained a lot yesterday with thunderstorms in the afternoon, which is two months earlier than usual. However, because the tires on the truck are not that good, I won’t take a chance on driving in and risking not being able to stop quickly if I need to. So I’ll wait until 0545 and go to the Walmart here and finish getting what I need.
*sigh*

It would seem I need to figure out a way to ease the anxiety about not being able to move. Construction on the “renovation” is supposed to start in June, and I was hoping to be out of here by then. They’re moving people out of the Phase I apartments like crazy. They figure each phase will take six months, but I definitely do NOT want to be here by the time they get to Phase II.

Good morning. I have more than sufficient anxiety, myself, today. I plan to deal with it by doing exactly the same as any other day, only more, plus playing Mexican Christian pop music.

I would play music but boxes are stacked around the stereo. Lots of boxes.

So I don’t how to deal with any of it. I’d go outside and scream but that’s so Millennial. I’ll just go take my shower instead.

Its 53° out. Very cold to me for the first week of May.

Waaaah! I want spring!

Going through my pills this morning, I realized I forgot the cranberry pills. The only thing is, if I send for them now, I have to pay S&H, and the combined cost will stop me from getting everything that’s on my pared down list this morning. Which is stuff for the month. *sigh*

This is the second revision, so some things just won’t get purchased. Period.

(I hear Utah calling me...)

If not, it should be because I sure sing it a lot.

I wanted to get some hamburger and buns for sloppy joes but I won’t be able to, this time around. It would be nice if my supplements could off-set my rent, but that ain’t gonna happen. Maybe when I get to Utah. Of course, the other alternative is to cancel the life insurance.

(Being a senior on low income makes everything a system of choices. Food or medication. Utilities or gas for the car. Car insurance or life insurance. There is no way to break even. And I still have to get my DL.)

*sigh* No wonder I’m depressed.

"Of course, the other alternative is to cancel the life insurance."

Why do you have life insurance?

None of my business but who's the beneficiary? Life insurance, the traditional kind, is for young responsible fathers who want to provide for their dependents if "something happens" to interfere with the income stream.

That's not you. (It's not me either.)

Now if it's for some other expense or coverage, I'll understand. But you don't need traditional life insurance, no matter what the agent told you.

There's mortgage insurance, and other stuff, but "life insurance" is for those with dependents.

Or for people who want to leave something behind for someone they care about.

Or to cover modest funeral expenses.

Or to pay one’s burial expenses. I hope my family would lay me to rest with dignity even if I didn’t provide the funds, but not everyone has my family. (Or there would be a lot more people in the world.)

It’s a lovely day here in suburban Boring, and I’m taking the young persons to the gym. This is our second-to-last day of Personal Fitness Merit Badge, yippee!

Term life, to help defray the cost of my funeral and burial expenses. Mortgage insurance is for those who own homes, one only of which we owned and then had to sell when Igor was transferred. And Mr Brilliance refused to pay the IRS lien on that, so when it was sold, we were lucky to get $1000 from the sale.

No life insurance agent knocked on my door or called me. I researched what I needed and contacted a company that had the lowest premiums for the most coverage.

The beneficiary is my son, who also has power of attorney, since he is the eldest. Besides, which, I think the idea of “all that money” in one lump would be too tempting for my daughter and she might decide someone else could pay the final expenses.

My kids won’t get anything from the insurance unless I can up the value. Right now, it’s at $7000, which may or may not be sufficient to bury me. (I plan to live to at least 100, and may well make it to 95 if my sibs are any indication) If I could add another $7000, then my kids could split what was left from the combined amount.

I had some gold jewelry, but I ended up having to sell it instead of being able to give it to my descendants. All I have now is the silver jewelry.

If anyone asks, my life has not been easy but the important thing is that I have survived. I don’t have a lot, but I have a cozy place (which coziness will be transferred to Hurricane) and God blesses me with those things I need when I need them. All, of course, on HIS Timeline!
