You shouldn’t buy into the Left’s “fake history” portrayal of Nixon any more than you should accept their fake news portrayal of Trump today. They will see any non left wing POTUS that way.
What’s going on is that they see everything through the progressive lens: if a president does not advocate globalism and socialist redistribution/ regulation, then they truly believe he’s evil.
If they believe the agenda is evil, they will believe the tactics are evil - any behind closed doors meetings will be called “secretive” and any show of strength will be called a “power-loving”. The exact same behavior from a beloved leftist POTUS will be considered admirable.
Any POTUS who pushes back and wants to drain the swamp will get the same treatment. Pretty much every republican will be seen this way by the left - except if they are weak and accommodating like the bushes and don’t fight back. Then the left will just call them stupid and out of touch.
The left wing media’s portrayal of Nixon regarding Watergate was every bit as fake as the fake news today about Russiagate, except back then there was no alternative media, so fake news became fake history.
I witnessed it happening. Nixon wasn’t perfect - nobody is - but he didn’t deserve to be remembered the way he is remembered. Not even close.
Bob and Carl, celebrity journalists for the past 40 years couldn’t break a real story if James Comey called them and confessed, they are washed up hacks.
You can lead old political whores to the fount of knowledge but you can't make them drink.
Woodward and Bernstein are trying to write the same story that brought them fame and fortune 45 years ago.
The only change they want in their narrative is the substitution of President Trump and his administration for Richard Nizon and his administration.
But facts keep getting in their way as they keep tripping over and ignoring the biggest political story in the last 230 years.
But the truth doesn't fit their agenda and world view.

The democrat/corporate media so want Trump to fire these guys. They would then report that Trump needs to be impeached for obstruction of justice. The fact that a special prosecutor was appointed to investigate democrat and media allegations without a crime actually being committed escapes these people. they keep living in a watergate vortex but the obvious missing ingredient is an actual crime being committed. Where is the crime they are investigating and how does that crime involve Trump or his campaign staff. This is absurd.
Two facts expose this absurdity: 1- Mueller refuses to sentence Flynn for a process crime he already pled guilty to because he knows Flynn’s lawyers would litigate the fact that all evidence on Flynn came from an illegally obtained FISA warrant. 2- Trump was requested to testify before Mueller and Trumps lawyers refused saying the investigation doesn’t rise to the level of seriousness to require the President to meet with Mueller. They politely asked Mueller to indicate the criminal act that he was requesting testimony about. To date, Mueller has not responded.
The Mueller investigation is effectively dead and buried and Trump just needs to let him drift into irrelevancy as more and more actual crimes come to light and begin to be investigated. Mueller is implicated in much of this and the longer he operates his clown show the more of an embarrassment he will become.
