Jim, when it comes to Nixon the word ‘paranoid’ is
more appropriate than ‘power-loving’ in my way of
thinking. Some were out to get him long before Watergate
so he had his reasons. He just didn’t handle things
well.

All that may be true and probably was, but Nixon loved the power of the Presidency with the White House and his Palace Guards. Although he thought he was a great President, in fact Nixon was a terrible President, greasing the skids for the likes of Carter, Bush, Clinton, and Obama.

One reason was his prosecution of Alger Hiss....they hated him for that.
