On Friday's weekly roundup on the PBS Newshour, after analyst David Brooks said the Trump White House has a "perpetual unraveling" of staff, liberal analyst Mark Shields compared it to people trying to escape the Berlin Wall, where escapees were often killed by communist guards. "This White House is resembling nothing as much as East Berlin, in that there's more people trying to get out than there are trying to get in."
The subject was the resignation of White House staff secretary after two ex-wives accused him of domestic abuse. Brooks took a shot at chief of staff John Kelly: "We have learned a couple things about Kelly. He had the earlier comment that some of the DACA people ["Dreamers"] were lazy. And then he but the guy who allegedly beats his wife is honorable. I mean, thats a contrast." He added "theres just always this thing of perpetual unraveling and the cycling through of staff at this White House."

Defund PBS today!
Same time we defund the u.n.? ;-)
Trump TOWERS OVER them intellectually and morally, and they simply cannot grasp that.
These are people of mediocre intelligence, vision, morality, and imagination trying to comprehend someone who towers far above them.
Can they really be that stupid and morally confused?????
I'm afraid so.
They spelled anal-ist wrong.
Gosh, and all this time I thought the East Berlin wall was to keep people IN . . .
Okay, just to be clear, PBS thinks East Berlin was a bad place, correct?
Can’t remember the last time PBS was on my TV or radio...wonder how many of their target audience actually donates enough to get a tote....
The have really big brains, or possibly fat heads, over there at Pro BS.
If any major news source had compared the communist/socialist who just, finally, left our White House to the East Germans or to any other communist/socialist dictator, the Left would have permanently freaked out.
Berlin Brigade 1982-1985. 2nd Bn 6th US Infantry
This assclown has no idea how E Berlin was. Kreuzburg (Turkish area) was a glistening sanctuary in comparison, and we thought it was a slum. (Got to forcibly evict lots of Anarchists from buildings there, sooooo much fun!)
Going to the East was like stepping into a world of black and white from color. No one smiled. Cameras everywhere. Countless times I had huge cash offers for my uniform over there - that would get them out.
One night we went way over in the East to a remote little neighborhood bar, and locked the door when we entered. We bought everyones drinks all night. By the time we left at closing, we had them singing God Bless America.
In my 3 years there I saw many things I cant talk about.
It was Shields who made the East Berlin comment that I think was absurdly over the top.
Seems to me that was the objective. Visited near the border between the west and east again in ‘68 when I was in the Navy. No crossing that time. ;-)
East Berlin had a wall that ran around its entire perimeter, even on the east side, to Keep East Germans OUT. It was a showplace for them, in The Workers Paradise.
The wall around West Berlin was 110 miles long. We had 5 days to run every mile of it.
Anal-yst, hmmm, another name for someone who does not know their assets from a hole in the ground.
PBS-—thinks? Does not compute. ;-0
Roger that. Hopefully some one cleaned up some of the WWII debris by then. Thanks for your service. ;-)
I spent a week in East Berlin, it is obvious this Anal-yst never has.
It isn’t so much that liberals are ignorant. It’s just that they know so many things that aren’t so.
