A Swampscott elementary school principal recently came out as transgender, according to letters released to the school community on Feb. 6 and, a day later, to the press.
“I can now say it: I am transgender,” wrote Shannon Daniels, 52, principal of Swampscott’s Stanley Elementary School and who formerly went by the name Tom, in a letter to the community. “For me that means I identify as both a male and female, and I plan to move toward presenting myself and identifying as female.”
Daniels wrote of struggling with her gender identity since she was in elementary school, suppressing the feelings for more than 40 years .
“While I was successful to a degree, I have never felt completely happy or at peace,” the principal wrote in her letter to the school community Feb. 6. “I got to the point that I thought I would never be able to reveal my true self. Frankly, the prospect of doing so was terrifying.”
She goes on to note her public announcement was met with nothing but support from the school that she leads.
“The wonderful Stanley School community is incredibly warm and accepting,” she writes. “I am proud to be the leader of this school, and I sincerely believe that the ability to live my life openly and authentically gives me great serenity and will make me a more sensitive, empathetic and effective leader.
She ended with a request: “I humbly ask that you support me as you would any family member going through a profound life change.”
As the principal’s identity transitions physically, she offered a trio of ways for parents to relay the changes to their children:
“There are many different ways boys and girls express themselves. It is important that we accept everyone as they are.” “Principal Daniels may look and sound different, but inside, Principal Daniels is the same, caring person.” “This doesn’t change the fact that Stanley School is a great place to be and learn.” “Principal Daniels has shared with us the intensely personal decision to identify as transgender,” wrote Swampscott Superintendent Pamela Angelakis in a letter to the Swampscott Community. “This will mark the beginning of an important community dialogue on the issue.”
With that said, Angelakis noted the Swampscott Public Schools will be providing opportunities for education and conversation about this topic in the near future.
She applaued Daniels and stated her admiration for the principal’s “courage, honesty and transparency”
“Principal Daniels has committed to being honest and transparent throughout this personal journey,” said Angelakis. “I will certainly do the same from the district’s perspective.”
‘Mommy, Mr. Smith turned into a woman. our principal is Mrs. Smith now. And look Mommy I think my barbies are turning into Kens. And my stuffed bear jut turned into a rabbit!”

I think its a gross stunt to keep his job. He’s an over 40 white male probably facing replacement by a young minority at lower pay.

Does this a hole know that the coolest, funniest thing in the world to kindergarteners and first grades are butts and privates!?! These kids are going to want to know details about his pee pee. Just how open is this ‘Brave” principal going to be, showing them the results of all his other surgeries???
They will see boobs appear. They will want to understand, like they want to understand how houses are built, how the boobs got onto a man. So, yes, surgery to hurt your body and change it WILL BE DISCUSSED.
A lesson this year will be how IT IS GOOD TO HAVE DOCTORS CUT AND HURT YOU BECAUSE YOU FEEL A CERTAIN WAY and that is not a good way to live. Shades of Michael Jackson. If this principal thinks it is good for children to learn that surgeries because you don’t like something about yourself is a good model for young children, he should be taken out back and shot.
And I can’t wait for the assembly where he tells the little boys he either wants his pee pee snipped off, or he tapes it up to look like a girl down there.
TRANSGENDERS IN TRANSITION (no such actual thing, I realize) do not belong in leadership positions over children.
This is a man with the biological brain disorder, from prenatal development, of gender dysphoria. He has been fooled that “transitioning” will solve that deep problem. I feel for him. Couldn’t imagine my inner gender not matching my outer. Must be a personal hell. But he needs to choose dropping out of position of leadership over small children if he does this. It is probably hell for a man to have a micropenis. It doesn’t mean I want my children to hear all the details of how Principal Jones is unhappy lifelong with a 1/2 inch penis, and hear all the surgeries he will be going though to correct it.
Mentally ill, in other words.

I had a good friend who lived in Swampscott in the late 70’s. It was still nice then ; )
I was shocked a few weeks ago to visit one of our neighboring elementary schools and saw both a tranny and a homosexual man working with kindergarten classes during an assembly. The homo was a complete sissy, so obvious from his gestures that I picked up on it from 40 feet away and the female impersonator could have doubled for Clinger, purse looped over his forearm and all.
How can parents be so complacent that they would let their children spend all day with such obvious sick frauds?
I have since looked through the website and can’t find any photos of either of these men. I am certain that they were both teachers from the way they were interacting with the youngest students in the gym and they were both wearing id tags, though Clinger had his conveniently turned around so I could not see his name when he swished past me and chatted in his raspy voice to the other teachers and the other guy was too far away.
I don’t know how it is possible, but it seems that the school is shielding them. All other grades have 4 teachers shown in photos on group websites, but the kindergarten team doesn’t appear to have a group website or photo, at least not easily accessible, and only 2 normal looking female K teachers are listed in the directory. I know they have to have at least two more and I guess they are hiding them from the general public.
I've never understood that sentiment (I mean the sentiment of "I'm trapped in the wrong body!").
I am a 58-year-old normal male, with wife and children. But if I were still a bachelor, and one day woke up with a gorgeous female body, I wouldn't feel "trapped." Instead, I'd make the best of it.
