Alex and Daniela Velez have come to peace with the difficult choice they will need to make if Congress doesn't reach a deal for those covered by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program by its March 5 deadline: They will leave the country.
"Alex and I are both over this [DACA situation]," said Daniela, who is 24 years old. "If DACA ends, I will leave with Alex. I will close my business, leave work and school."
The Velez sisters are two of nearly 689,000 young adults who are currently protected from deportation under DACA. The Obama-era program allowed young Dreamers who were brought to the United States as children to come out from the shadows and enroll in college, obtain driver's licenses and legally secure jobs.
In September, President Trump announced he would end DACA and left it up to Congress to come up with alternative legislation. But with less than a month until that March 5 expiration date, lawmakers and the Trump administration remain at an impasse.
Should they fail to put another option in place, 915 Dreamers will lose protection from deportation each day, according to the Migration Policy Institute.

Three to six years. That’s doable.
daCACAs
IMPRESSIVE - they managed to find the only 2 DACA types with American first names.
As it is, they likely have an excellent education and an excellent command of English. So they will do GREAT back home (against the much lower standard of living), much better than they likely could ever do here.
So GOOD FOR THEM - they are doing the right thing!
My tearducts will look like the Oroville dam.
Brain drain to civilized countries like ours is supposed to be is a real thing. The more that come here, the worse it is at home.
Let me rephrase that.
If you wish to come back, and never committed serious crimes, including multiple DUIs. felony hit and run or identity theft, and can communicate in English, you are as welcome as anyone else in the world to apply as a permanent resident.
Good luck!
Adios Muchachos!
Nothing that a crew-served weapon couldn’t take care of in a jiffy.
Gee I wonder why CNN won’t allow comments on this article.
Democrats do have the choice of agreeing with Republicans on a bill. If they don’t, it’s their fault.
Make sure once they leave, they never ever sneak back in.
The left turning these people into victims is pathetic. What part of illegal don’t they understand?
Bye!
They say that like it's a bad thing.
In all seriousness, taking your child illegally into a country where they are subject to arrest and deportation is a form of child abuse. Do we really want to condone child abuse? The Dreamers really should blame their parents, not those of us who just want the law enforced as written.
I have supported Trump since June 16, 2015. Haven't wavered a millimeter since... but...
If DACA is not eliminated and the wall not built, I will seek out a candidate who will address those problems, I will support the new candidate, deal with whatever consequences ensue.
Chaos, riots, civil war, all the same to me.
I will never support the Hispanic States of America in any form. period.
Novel: Term Limits, by Vince Flynn, 1999... Summarizes the problem quite clearly. Just about the time the United States of America started going down the drain. Scroll down for the customer reviews at Amazon.com. The novel is prescient...
"I had just finished reading The Government Racket: Washington Waste from A to Z, by Martin L. Gross. It is without a doubt the most disheartening and enlightening book about politics that I've ever read. I was out jogging one day wondering what it would take to really change Washington, when my thoughts turned to a friend who had been shot and killed in Washington, D.C., several summers earlier. As I continued running, a story started to unfold."
Pocket Books published the hardcover edition of Term Limits in 1998, and the mass market paperback of Term Limits in 1999, which spent several weeks on The New York Times bestseller list.
They are from Venezuela. Make sure you take your parents and some toilet paper with you on the trip back.
Good. Make Meh-e-coh great for once luring the other illegals back home to mooch off your greatness!!!
