Former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page said the GOP memo alleging surveillance abuses at the Department of Justice (DOJ) was worse than he could have imagined.
During an interview late Monday on Fox News, Page was asked about his reaction to the recently released memo.
"My first reaction, Laura, when I saw it was, you know, there was a lot of details that kept dripping out," he said.
"And it sounded really bad. When I actually saw it, it was even worse than I could've possibly imagined." The four-page memo, released last Friday, accuses senior DOJ officials of improperly using information from the so-called "Steele dossier" which originated as an opposition research document during the 2016 campaign to obtain surveillance warrants on Page, who was a member of the Trump transition team and former Trump campaign adviser.
Trump tweeted this past weekend that the memo "totally vindicates" him in the investigation into Russian election interference and possible collusion between his campaign and Moscow.
Democrats have called the memo misleading and claimed it includes cherry-picked claims to undermine the ongoing Russia probe.
On Monday, the House Intelligence Committee voted unanimously to release a document drafted by Democrats to rebut the GOP memo.
The 10-page classified document now goes to President Trump, who has five days to block its release if he so chooses.
The Democratic memo is expected to lay out a point-by-point rebuttal of the assertions in the GOP memo and make the case that the FBI had good reason to spy on Page as part of the counterintelligence probe into the Trump campaign.
During the interview on Fox News, Page also commented on what happened in the days after the GOP memo was released.
"What was particularly interesting is sort of the next 48 hours after that where part of the attack on Chairman Nunes and the committee was to come up with any new information to discredit me and anything related to the investigation or the overall investigation and all the great work that HPSCI has been doing," he said, referring to the chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.).
"So, it's pretty stark contrast between getting the facts out there, having -- you know, still getting attacked. So, its pretty crazy."
The next thing to look for in this scandal is evidence that the information gathered by the FBI through the wiretapping was funneled back to the Clinton campaign and/or the DNC.
Which you know it will be.
After the election, the spying on Trump continued. At that point, Clinton was irrelevant. The purpose was to submarine his presidency.
Why does Carter Page not talk about having been a paid FBI undercover informant prior to being targeted by the FISA warrant? Perhaps he is bound by a confidentiality agreeement or does not want to further anger the Russians he spied on? IDK (see the posts yesterday on this subject)
Clinton allies also set up some of the "Trump campaign Russia" meetings like the one with the lawyer. She collected the dirt from those.
Even in the private sector-their conduct would be actionable. How and why does it go unpunished in government?
Is our culture SO poisoned that we are inured to even THIS ?
You all know what you have to do.
-If approached by the FBI to not talk to them about ANYTHING. Deprive them of all information. They’re only going to try and trip you up for a process crime anyhow.
-If seated on a jury and any of the evidence was touched by the FBI in any way, vote to acquit.
By making them totally ineffective we can put them out of business.
So Trump couldn't uncover all the shenanigans in the Obama administration. Once Trump won, they needed to cover their asses!
Personally, I don’t see how the Dems can rebut the GOP memo “point by point,” unless they spin, or otherwise make stuff up.
let the Dem's make their rebuttal, then release the next round of incriminating findings that demolish their spin...like project Veritas
The weird thing about the applications for the warrant(s) is that they relied (in significant part) on the Steele dossier - and yet that is mostly about Trump (e.g., golden showers). Now either the Steele dossier was redacted heavily, or it was obvious to the FISC that Trump was entailed in a warrant broad enough to touch everyone Carter Page contacted. We know what wire service journalism would have said about an application for any such warrant which touched Hillary. So, up or down - did the application for the warrant mention that it would touch Trump, or not???? If so, what judge in possession of full faculties would grant it touching a major party presidential nominee - let alone an elected POTUS ? If not, withholding that detail was a material omission.
Presumably it was the former case, and the judge in question was way, way, way off the reservation. Just like the MSM."
I wouldn't go so far as to acquit just because the criminal organization knowns as the FBI is involved, but I would definitely assign anything they say with the proper weight, i.e., somewhat less reliable than hearsay.

What the heck did he say???? Well, I can read what he said - but what the heck did he mean?
