Employees at Newsweek have been told that editor-in-chief Bob Roe and executive editor Ken Li have been fired, sources with knowledge of the situation told CNN.
A reporter, Celeste Katz, who had written articles about financial issues at the magazine as well as an investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney's office into its parent company, Newsweek Media Group, was also let go, the sources said.
Staff in Newsweek's New York offices were told to stop working and go home for the day on Monday afternoon, a source close to the newsroom told CNN. Katz was seen cleaning out her desk, the source said.
"Can confirm I was fired. I know nothing else. Can say nothing else yet," Roe told CNN in an email.
The news comes during a turbulent time for the magazine. Just last week the co-owner and chairman of Newsweek Media Group, Etienne Uzac, and his wife Marion Kim, who acted as the company's finance director, both stepped down.
Last month the Manhattan District Attorney's office raided the company's offices, taking several servers. Newsweek itself, in a story co-written by Katz, reported that the raid was part of a long-running investigation into the company's finances.
Li could not immediately be reached for comment, though he tweeted, "What a day to leave my charger at home." Katz declined to comment. A spokesman for Newsweek said the company would not have any comment on personnel matters.

I can’t wait til a new owner comes in and cleans house at the s#itshow known as CNN. With the possible exception of John King who is a master of the election database whiteboard, everyone from the janitor on up needs to go.
They will keep their sources in the Dept. of Deep State, Fusion GPS, the FBI and CGI.
One down, 1000 to go.
Hopefully CNN is next...
Maybe even some touches’
Did they say something nice about Trump???
Wow. They all deserve to be fired just for that stupid dont look behind the curtain, Toto article about the Storm and Q. I went to the link and had a hard time clicking enough times to get past them and back here. Sleazy rag.
AMF
Id buy that for a dollar...
What you are buying for that dollar is a brand and it’s debts.
My reference to Q was something of a triple entendre, because Edward Platt as an agent before being CONTROL’s Chief was assigned “Q” in the early days before they switched to numbers.
Nepotism rears its ugly head.... Such a situation can only lead to lots of problems.... Nepotism in local government is a good example....
“AMF” That’s a good example. Didn’t they make bowling equipment?
They just about killed Harley-Davidson, didn’t they?
I remember looking at new AMF Harleys way back—when Nanzi Pelosi didn’t have to sneak up on a glass of water. That long.
Believe they had little red, white and blue AMF logo stickers on the tanks. I didn’t know much about bikes but I knew what I liked and passed. Shoulda bought on of those 883s though back around `81 or so though, cheep.
I theenk HD is closing a plant. KC?
I figured they received their articles already made for them, talking points and all. They must have been there to give the appearance of a normal business.
Now who and what did they know?
Didnt Q say to watch for the resignations?
Does that whack job Kurt Eichenwald still work there?
Don’t gloat CNN you maybe next.
All 12 pages?
Wasn’t Newsweak bought for $1.00 by Jane Harmon’s husband?
