The rabble cant be trusted with self-driving cars, and only companies operating fleets of them should be able to use them in dense urban areas.
So say Uber and Lyft, as signatories to a new list of transportation goals developed by a group of international non-governmental organizations and titled Shared Mobility Principles for Livable Cities.

If you don’t own a car, parking concerns disappear... which is bad news for those who profit from slabs of concrete daily and bad news for cities that depend on fines from parking violations to meet city budget operating expenses.
Unions
Rat voter base
Workers who want pensions
Metro buses and rail will always have workers on the dole
Haven’t heard anything about motorcycles?
Guess they will be obsolete?
WTF it is with tech companies. First they ask for help from us breaking cab monopolies (or news monopolies in case of facebook) and then they use the money to lobby for their own monopoly.
Yep. Seems like Amtrack’s sole purpose is its Union worlers.
“At least a self-driving car wont over-charge you, and it certainly wont rape you.”
But a self-driving car can be hacked and drive you non-stop into a bad neighborhood where the rapist are waiting to extract you from a computer unlocked car door.

I just see the driver assist features becoming more prevalent until suddenly youre at the point where the car really can drive itself, richies first, rabble later.
...
It’s going to happen with fleets first. Then it will trickle out to individuals.
So the evil plan is revealed. I also am assuming that human driven cars will soon be banned in urban areas, because the only thing the AI can’t cope with is human randomness. Better get the red barchetta tucked away in the barn now.
They’ll need something better than GPS.
