They are putting a wall between the Nunes memo and Mueller for a good reason.
For one thing, it insulates Nunes and the HPSCI from allegations that they released the Nunes memo to undermine the Mueller investigation.
Secondly, there is one person who is now dreadfully exposed in the matter because his signature appears on FISA warrant applications that were used to construct the very "Russian collusion" narrative that led to Mueller's appointment. That person is Rod Rosenstein.
Rosenstein now has to remove himself from any oversight of Mueller because he is clearly a material witness in the matter that Mueller is investigating.
In other words, Rosenstein has to recuse himself for the same reason Sessions did.

That won't happen, it would be an admission that he should have recused himself from the start.

Just for the record on this thread, it was Gowdy (and some others) who read the source docs to write the memo, not Nunes.

Rats never recuse. Rats never resign. Never.

AC, you seem to be of the same mind as FReeper LS, and @ThomasWictor and @ImperatorRex on Twitter.
I’m of the same mind.
I hope - and pray - that this line of thinking is correct, that Mueller will go where the evidence leads him, that Sessions is actually on the job and not on the nod.
Interesting stuff!

"In other words, Rosenstein has to recuse himself for the same reason Sessions did." ...... Whut? I'm not at all sure why Sessions felt he had to fold his tent and turn an investigation over to Obama's best boy Mueller and the Democrats he chose ... Mule didn't have have any qualms about looking for Russia-Trump collusion: and this witch-uh ... this investigation has been fresh bull squeezings every day since "Fearless Fosdick" Sessions turned the reins over to leering Obama sycophants & butt buddies. Seen any recent photos of the Mule smiling like this? No. He's on a mission.

Rosenstein has to recuse himself for the same reason Sessions did. Rosenstein doesn't care about conflicts of interest of he would have never appointed Mueller. He actually gave Mueller a conflict of interest waiver, which is outrageous for an "independent" special counsel appointment. He probably has one for himself somehow now as well. NO ONE in the current DOJ appears to be acting ethically, to assume they suddenly will is silly.
