The sister of CNN host Don Lemon has died after she fell into a Louisiana pond and drowned while fishing.
The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office say her death is being treated as an accident and they do not suspect foul play.
"Our family has suffered the tragic loss of L'Tanya 'Leisa' Lemon Grimes and we are leaning on each other for strength at this time. We appreciate privacy as we grieve the loss of our loved one."

All sympathy to Don Lemon. No family should suffer such tragedy.
Ditto.
I know it’s safe to assume that she couldn’t swim but she could have hit her head on the way in and it didn’t matter one way or the other.
The Great Commandment, dude.
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Jesus Christ
In my family if you wanted to join the water activities even by being near water, you had to be able to be a strong swimmer. So we learned by the age of five.
In fall of 1967, I was going thru Navy boot camp.(Co.001 Nav TR Ctr, Orlando FL). We had basic swimming test, wasn’t much of a test. Jump in deep end of a pool, tread water 10 mins, swim length of the pool and back and you passed.
We had 1 black guy in our company and he did not want to get in the water, so the DI assisted him in getting in. He sank right to the bottom like a stone, he was on the bottom maybe 15 or 20 seconds and we all realized he was not coming back up. Someone put the rescue pole down and pulled him back up and out.
He was out of the Navy the next day. Seems the USN has some rule that if you cant swim, you cant be a sailor.
I had never seen anything like that. If I want to get to the bottom of a pool, I have to make the effort to swim down there.
My family too. We were such strong swimmers, we got into all sorts of stupid trouble in the water. It probably would have been safer to keep us all in fear. Five kids and not a lick of sense amongst us.
“She must have been trying to drain the swamp.”
You’re an idiot.
It might not have been a swimming issue. She may have hit her head when she fell and become unconscious.
Ms. Grimes was 58. She may have had a medical event while she was fishing.
Prayers for her family and friends.
When I was a lot younger and skinnier, I could fill my lungs completely and would barely float with my face above water. Used to hyperventilate for a bit, then hold half a breath and lie on the bottom of the deep end for a minute or so, just to see if the lifeguards were paying attention. Generally they weren’t.
I didn’t assume she was young if she was his older sister; I was merely pointing out why I thought so many of them don’t swim (at any age).
I agree: Prayers for her family and friends. Don Lemon is a disgusting person, but this story isn’t about him.
I’ve never tried it, but I’d think treading water for 10 minutes gets tiring.
teach your kids how to swim
Well said.
She must have been looking for her brother.
Then don't. It's crass and boorish.
I sink like a stone in fresh water, same problem. I learned how to be a strong swimmer though, and use minimal energy to keep afloat if I had to go long distances.
This poor lady’s accident could of been easily avoided. Every parent should be sending their kids to swimming lessons.
Prayers for their family and that God will bring something good out of this tragedy.
They of course for decades didn’t have access to the same municipal pools, etc., that whites did.
And now it is a multigenerational thing, where the parents don’t know how to swim and so don’t teach or prioritize it with their kids.
