It no longer functions as a salt mine, but they did some incredible sculptures out of the salt, even created a full-blown chapel.

The salt mines are the one thing I didn’t see in Poland. My ankle was swollen from Auschwitz the day before and I didn’t know there was an elevator back up instead of ascending the steps. The souvenirs were gorgeous.
