There was a time when even the mere appearance of impropriety was justification enough for Congressional Republicans to exercise their oversight authority to demand that the White House and executive branch justify their actions.
During the infamous 2012-13 Benghazi investigation, reports surfaced that threats were being made by Obama administration officials against government employees who wanted to cooperate with the House Oversight and Government Reform Committees (OGR) investigation. OGR Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), my boss at the time, responded aggressively.
Issa sent a letter to the Obama administration noting that these allegations are serious because retaliation against employees who communicate with Congress does grave harm to those brave individuals who report mismanagement at their own risk and creates a chilling effect on other employees who may be considering coming forward to assist the Committee.
Well, 12:01 isn’t technically tonight. And do you believe he hasn’t “reviewed” it?
NBC = Comcast = American enemy
Probably release it Monday so to have a full week for everyone to rand and rave over it with out a week end to calm the fury. BUT I WANT IT NOW.
Ok, thanks.
How many times does it have to be said that House Oversight has NO PROSECUTORIAL POWER?
According to our Constitution, this is by design. Legislators have the ability (and responsibility) to conduct oversight investigations. They don't have the power to impanel grand juries and seek indictments. In short, Issa and Gowdy can't do much more than they did.
Doesnt matter what I believe :-)
LOL, I hear ya.
Release of the memo following a grand SOTU speech steps on good news. If reviews are bad (not likely) then they can release the memo. I expect 1-2 days of good press, followed by a mid-day Thursday release.
I suspect it’ll be released in time for the Sunday shows. I feel I’ve been watching a well-crafted Kabuki without the usual wardrobe and make-up. 45 is a Grandmaster.
People like Bardella really shouldn’t be giving anyone incentive to look up their background and work history.
They talk hardball.... but play nerfball
I heard the memo is being released following the SOTU
Kurt is reminding us of the importance of making sure the dragons are dead. Thanks Kurt. We got it.
[....empty rhetoric skills on to Trey Gowdy, who loves to send sternly worded letters but never seems to actually accomplish anything!!”
Ahh the ubiquitous Gowdy-bashing, a crowd favorite here on FR.
Please Mom, advise us on what Gowdy ought to be doing, in his congressional capacity, to comport with your wishes?
“Please Mom, advise us on what Gowdy ought to be doing, in his congressional capacity, to comport with your wishes?”
Demanding a Special Prosecutor into Benghazi would have been a great start!
The FBI has detailed files on every Congress critter and all of their staff. Fear is the only thing that plugs leaks abd controls actions on Capitol Hill.
Issa, Gowdy, and ....
then there was Jason Chaffetz on Extortion 17...
NBC can go to hell. Get ready for the onslaught you Hillary b****es !
If he’s indicted, tried and convicted, he’s S.O.L.
