Sen. Cory Booker is deeply concerned about the more-than-likely impending release of the Nunes memo, which Republicans claim reveals that the FBI used underhanded tactics to surveil members of the incoming Trump administration.
On SiriusXM’s Make It Plain with Mark Thompson, Booker said that the release of the memo would be “tantamount to treasonous.”
“This fury and fire that has been created within the right around this [memo] is to me tantamount to a dangerous conspiracy theory that can undermine the important work our Justice Department and intelligence communities do,” Booker said.
“When you violate the intelligence community’s mandates around classified documentation, what should be released, you could be betraying or, especially if you’re revealing sources and methods or giving some color to sources and methods, you are actually endangering fellow Americans in the intelligence community and our ability to source intelligence,” he continued. “So, to me, this is something that could be potentially viewed as treasonous.”
Booker is often considered a frontrunner to be the Democratic presidential candidate in 2020. Booker’s refutation of the Nunes memo further establishes him as a defender of the Russia investigation, and also as a staunch opponent to current Republican tactics to undermine the FBI and Justice Department.

The last time I saw a facial expression like that was at the zoo, and the beast threw feces at me.
The only sources and methods that the memo will expose is that the FBI, CIA and Hillary Clinton themselves were the “source” of the intelligence and method by which it was obtained was “pure made up fiction with intent to defraud”
OK, now I am really convinced that there is something damning in that memo. You’ve got too many people screaming about how terrible it will be when it gets out, but too bad its coming out anyway (leaking when it hurt Trump was perfectly fine).

Just what is the exact nature of the classified “national security” info that this memo refers too?
If it is FORMER President Obama’s Presidential Daily Briefing material , specifically the part about FISA Court activity and unmasking, than which field agents will die as a result of this “release”?
Is it the whole FISA Court process or just the actually data used to secure the warrant?
Is it who in the past administration was requesting the unmasking?
Is it the FBI 7th floor names?
Even if its all of the above, they may want to keep it secret for the sake of their own butts, but I don’t see any reason to classify it as a national security risk if it is released

This is such a blatantly absurd argument and it is disappointing that the MSM never challenges it. First, what are the confidential sources? Did the FBI go to the CIA which then consulted their moles in Russia? But that seems a stretch - more likely the FBI is embarrassed that they relied on false information provided by an unreliable source to get a warrant to bug the GOP candidate (now President).
Second assuming that confidential sources overseas are referenced, one could simply redact the offending material or describe it in general terms that doesn’t reveal identities.
Third does the memo describe collection methods that go beyond what Snowden already revealed? Again seems unlikely but if so they could be redacted too.
In sum, the whole “trust me it’s vital to national security” argument simply doesn’t cut it anymore, particularly in a case like this where there are no possible terrorism implications.
Well....THERE Goes the mid-terms.
