Qatar backs Turkey’s military action against Syrian Kurds

DOHA,— Qatar, which is routinely accused of ties to Islamist extremists and Islamic State group IS, has thrown its weight behind Turkey’s military offensive against Kurdish militia in Syrian Kurdistan (Rojava), coming to the defence of the “national security” of one of its closest allies.

“The state of Qatar reaffirmed its support for the efforts of the republic of Turkey to maintain its national security in the wake of the breaches and terrorist attacks carried out inside Turkish territories,” foreign ministry spokeswoman Lolwa Al-Khater said.

Speaking to Qatari media on Monday, Khater said Turkey’s launch of Operation Olive Branch was “driven by legitimate concerns related to its national security and securing its borders, as well as protecting the territorial integrity of Syria from the danger of secession”.

Yeah, we love seeing all these Syrian refugees coming out and it has nothing to do with Assad (sarcasm off)

We basically can’t do anything.

The Kurds are saying “Come and Take it”, they’ve been mobilizing, it’s hard to see how they have a chance.

Turkey sent 72 jets to strike Afrin, maybe the people there are so use to bombing raids, it doesn’t affect them now.

At this point, I’m not trusting some reports, such as casualty figures.

Syria can get their militant crappy refugees that are coming out of there because of Assad out of the West, so yeah, that is our business.

I find the foreign news in the Region refreshing. At least some of the articles speak from local knowledge and are pretty honest. There is some pure propaganda like what comes out of Turkey.

But NOTHING like the US (worthless) “Main Stream” Media. You know, those pukes who have worked hand in glove to defeat all but the blind leap of faith globalist perspective.

So far, Turkey had not done well with their ground assault. And they random bombing of civilians is new instilling any credibility to their propaganda.

So, Russia, Iran, Syria are non-free nations but one trusts their media? Not me.

Also, we’ve got lots of media reporting, one is not forced to read Fox, CNN, etc.

Syrian refugees flooding Europe are a direct result of the West's meddling in Iraq, Libya and Syria, so spare me your hypocritical self righteousness you neo-liberal globalist knob.

How much of MSM is not complicit in the anti Trump jihad?

Even Fox at times has issues.

ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN are totally in the Globalist (Den)rat community. They have been reduced to only propaganda so long, nobody notices.

I hate it.

Who was reporting on 10 civilians being killed the other day was that Syrian Human Rights Observatory in London. Everyone knows they have gotten some stories wrong, like the big Russian lie of Baghdadi being killed by the Russians.

I would not be surprised if Qatar is paying the salaries of the jihadis that Turkey is running into Afrin right now.

I’m for the Kurds but I’m not delusional either, they helped the Turks commit genocide against the Armenians, Assyrians, etc. and they apologized for it.

“They (Qatar) still hold out hope they can get that (pipeline) done through Terrorist action.”

Also, they are in so deep already, it is hard to get out. They have invested so much, for so long in a Muslim Brotherhood takeover, that it is almost the only foreign leverage they have on the ground in the region.

Burning their Muslim Brotherhood surrogates would mean tossing away their huge sunk investment in cultivating that network as their foreign legion.

Also, Qatar has to worry that the Saudis will do more than just embargo them - the Saudis could cross the border and assault their palace in hours, if the USA steps aside. Qatar is now hosting a new Turkish military unit as a deterrent.

“The Kurds are saying “Come and Take it”, they’ve been mobilizing, it’s hard to see how they have a chance.”

Neither the Turkish/Qatari/Muslim Brotherhood side, nor the Syrian/Russian/Iranian side want to see the Kurds gain independence, and Afrin is the most vulnerable part.

I have seen reports that both of those otherwise opposed alliances have agreed to a good cop/bad cop alliance to eliminate Kurdish autonomy in Afrin. The reported chain of events was that on Saturday, Kurdish leaders were given an ultimatum to turn their positions over to the Iranian-supported militias, or face the Turkish/jihadi invasion. They refused, and on Sunday the Turks crossed the border. The Russians, who controlled the airspace over Afrin, have given the Turks clear skies to attack.

It is kind of like a standard protection racket, where the fire department is also the arsonist.

Afrin’s only supply route is through Syrian controlled Aleppo. They can throttle supply and reinforcements, or send a big relief force of Iranian militias, if/when the Kurds eventually need to protect their families from imminent jihadi genocide.

Apparently, some slaughter of Yazidi refugees in Afrin by the jihadis has already occurred. Many of the jihadis participating in this assault are likely members of the former ISIS garrison in al Bab, which previously surrendered to the Turks, in return for promises of being re-armed and supported to continue fighting against their ideological enemies (i.e. jihad), including the secular Kurds.

Just another spike in the sand. I suppose with them being the only one that wants to make the Islamists dance to their tune may make them feeling a bit of instant oats.
