In suburbs just outside the city of Chicago, some police officers are paid fast-food wages; they work part-time patrolling high crime areas, just so they can use their badge to get better paying security jobs.
Many police chiefs say the low-wages and part-time positions are consequences of inadequate funding. That means departments can't pay for ongoing training, can't afford to fire problem officers and don't have the capacity to investigate police shootings.
Experts say it's created a system where there's often no accountability for bad actions, and no real effort to learn from policing mistakes.

Surprised the DEMs haven't implemented a lien against wages above what is owed for the state and local income taxes.
The cities just raise the property and retail sales taxes until all of the citizens move away.

So walk me through your logic here because it seems to me that you are suggesting that lowing benefits would improve services.
So true. In Texas just drive through the faculty parking at one of the high schools and look at all the Lexus, Cadillacs, Corvettes, BMW's. Those low paid teachers sure do drive some nice cars. I guess they need them since they have a 3 month plus vacation every year.

You can bet the residents pay high taxes and the municipality has ample funds.
And you can also bet that the reason the police department is strapped for money is because “feel-good” social spending has a higher priority.
Well, I can suggest that you go to New Jersey, where cops and teachers are the highest paid with one the best pensions system (bankrupt) on the planet.
Newark spends 30K per student, teachers are paid well but the kids are dolts that end up in prison caught by a cop making 120K a year with a pension of 80K a year when he retires at 45.
You want the best government services, move to New Jersey, and live in Newark.

These suburbs are Robbins, Markham and those filled with people with third world mentalities.
The joke here is that the schools with the most BMWs, Caddys, Benzs, etc in the parking lot are the worse schools in the state.

Or, just take away 1/2 of the corporate tax savings from California businesses and redistribute it to welfare recipients and illegal aliens like California plans to do.
