SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Facebook Inc will change the ranking of its News Feed to give priority to trustworthy news sources above those that its users do not consider trustworthy, Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg said on Friday.
(Excerpt) Read more at reuters.com ...
The problem with FB putting the focus on friends and family in people’s feeds, as well as their focus on “trustworthy” news sources, is that some people go on FB for their news. I personally watch FOX and read FR as well, but some people don’t wish to go beyond FB. With FB’s liberal leadership, these people are going to be YUGELY deceived.
Going to be? Already are deceived.
Just another reason I don’t even have a smart phone, much less FB.
Facebook tries to guess my interests from when I hit the Like button: people’s cat photos, anniversary celebrations, somebody posting about their trip to Tahiti. So they push promotion posts about cat food (I have dogs),Viking Cruises (don’t have the money to travel) and fine dining establishments (only family restaurants for me). Nice try, Facebook.
judging by this rubbish from the Reuters’ article -
- Tom Gara, opinion editor at BuzzFeed News, wrote on Twitter that he expected partisan outlets to fare worse: This sounds like extremely good news for news publishers that arent hated by one side or the other. ...
News Corp, owner of the New York Post and other outlets, responded to the earlier Facebook announcement with a pledge to look for any signs that the weighting of news sites is politically motivated.
The Rupert Murdoch-led company had no immediate comment on Friday. -
FB should not consider Reuters to be ‘trustworthy’.
Well the Internet is already on it’s way to being controlled outside the US as we know.....
I do not have nor have desired a cell phone...though I will have a pre-paid one for emergencies in the near future. Phone went down for almost two days during snow storm. So need one for such times.
I do go to twitter especially during national disasters etc. or significant events. But I never tweet...nor do i go to facebook unless referenced something of importance.
I have a Trac phone for back up — they had a 3G, reasonably-good-sized screen on sale at Walmart - I picked up 2 (1 for spare) at a price even cheaper than my original Trac Phone with was like $9.87. I think I got these for $9.82 each — it’s pretty good for a cheap phone - and you can pull webpages and gesture (resize) the screen.
$20 for a 3-month card (it’s a 3x phone original was a 2x phone) - so you get 3x mins - $20 card is 60 mins so 180 - $25 card (only at the FRONT of Walmart) has 90 mins so 270 - better deal than the $30 card in the electronics section.
This card ($25) is ONLY at the front of WM on a rack with restaurant cards, etc. Sometimes a big four-sided display; sometimes just a rack with 20 other cards.
PLUS find bonus codes online for extra free mins - if you get a Tracphone - I’ll give ya the link (or anyone else) who wants to get free minutes.
Cheap Trac phone with 3G that was less than $10 - >>>>LG Sunrise<<<< - they were only $19.99 anyways - may still be on Ebay - haven’t checked WM lately.
GET a rubber cover to protect it if you drop it — it has saved both of my phones at least twice each. As careful as I am, it has still happened. The rubber covers with snap-off belt holster - like $6 in multiple colors on eBay.
I went with black for both. Got a red one at first for one to make it easier to tell which was which - looked too darn close to pink lol - it’s medium red but came off as light red against the black holster. It’s laying around somewhere - haven’t seen it in awhile.
So get a track phone ...$25. card at front of Walmart Store on the rack there?
Yes, I have consistently found this to be true.
So having said that, YMMV LOL.
The $25 is the best value - don’t buy the $29.88 WM Tracphone card unless necessary.
But you have to hunt at the front of WM - usually near either 1) the money sending place or most often, a big rack about 4x3x3 feet right in front of the self-checkout entrance.
You CAN do the $19.88 card - especially if you don’t talk that much on the phone. I’ll post the hyperlink where you can get codes to get free minutes when you input the card (here is a second).
BUT always remember to renew your phone on the day of even before (better) so you don’t lose extra minutes. You can renew a month before - the ending date on your phone will be just fine. I.E. you get 90 days on January 15 so you’re good until about April 15. But you add a card in Feb or March and you’re good until July 15 (roughly).
There IS a 1-year $99 card - if you don’t want the hassle of every 3 months. Links and pics to follow.
BTW, when I was out in the middle of nowhere Kansas, my Virgin Mobile phone couldn’t get a signal - BUT Tracphone, as I understand it, jumps off more towers - so my Tracphone actually had a signal.
WOW I MUST HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE TO BUY TWO NEW for less than $10 each - Walmart is now charging $69 for the last one they have. Insane. There are used ones on eBay.
This is like the case I have - $11

Phone for $28.66 here but free shipping and maybe no tax
Wow and WM was closing them out when I found them
And LAST but not least - get your free airtime codes here - they publish every month - you put the code in along with the card PIN #
