How much water in California is used for residential hygine vs. growing food in sunny but arid regions? Are people being limited to one minute showers to save 13 gallons of water for a single orange?

I have done it ( removed water restrictions from shower heads ) for years. I dont want the government telling me how much water I can use.I own my water. I have a fine well . I water what when and where I want to with no regard for restriction because I own it all. If you have city water then you are free to buy what you want but for some pin head to restrict your shower head and make you pay for that restriction is not American!! Who were the politicians that did that? where are they now? How can we be so stupid as to elect idiots like that?

So if I take a leak out in the back yard, I will need a meter on my wee-wee, for that ‘outdoor watering’?

Just make sure that you get a wireless meter for your wee-wee.

I tried to save a few bucks and got one that was wired. Unfortunately, there was a nick in the plastic insulation and when my "water" got on the exposed wire, it darn near made me violate the conservation restrictions!

“No rain or snow==no water.”

Just unstoppable forest fires followed by floods and mud slides.

amazing how legislators elected to cure and stop crises actually feeeel duty bound to create even more.

Well, I see your problem right there: 1) Expecting results from govt 2) Believing govt SOLVES ‘problem(s)\issue(s)’

Govt IS the creator of problem(s)\issue(s); The People, in their endeavor to live/grow/enjoy the fruits SOLVE.

Much of their water from creeks and streams is being diverted to grow marijuana.

To paraphrase Freewheelin' Franklin: "Dope will get you through times of no water better than water will get you through times of no dope."

I wasn’t aware that all those people pooing and peeing in the streets of San Francisco, San Diego and LA were wasting so much water.

There is actually a device that will lower water and energy bills. It’s a hot water recirculator. You do not need a return line for it. Put it at the farthest point of use, under the lav. It has a check valve with very small pump and thermostat that installs between hot and cold supplies. Voila, instant hot water and no waste.

Ordinary tools like a pair of crescent wrenches, and you need a plug nearby. About $250 and it will recover that quickly. Google ACT-E1. It’s made by Laing. Hint: Amazon is not the lowest price. Use the ACT-E10 if you have a tankless water heater. There are other brands, but they are timer based, not thermostatic.

It’s a two-fer for the arrogant technologists - they get everybody else’s water consumption controlled, because they need so much, and they get to sell the technologies needed to control everyone’s consumption - everyone but them.

Low flow showerheads. Don't like the sound of that.
