Troops will not receive a paycheck this Friday if Congress fails to pass a budget or another short-term spending measure by then, according to the Pentagon.
Troops will have to continue reporting for duty and will accrue pay, but cannot be paid until the actual money is appropriated, said Pentagon spokesman Christopher Sherwood in a statement to Breitbart News on Tuesday.
President Trump is not able to exempt troops from a government shutdown, he said.

If you were a private company, you’d be bankrupt. And your last checks would bounce.
Deals with Chuck n Nancy don’t count, huh?
The “Feed and Forage Act” of 1861 is still a valid US law and can be used for the payment of troops if there is no budget.
I remember it being used while I was in the Army during the Cold War:
“The Feed and Forage Act of 1861 is legislation passed by the United States Congress that allows the Military Departments to incur obligations in excess of available appropriations for clothing, subsistence, fuel, quarters, transportation and medical supplies. This provision is codified in Section 3732 of the Revised Statutes (41 U.S.C. § 11). It also authorizes incurring deficiencies for costs of additional members of the Armed Forces on active duty-beyond the number for which funds are currently provided in DoD appropriations (Title 10 U.S.C.).” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feed_and_Forage_Act
Shut off food stamps, EBT cards, and section 8 first.
When did they change military paydays?
When I was in, paychecks came on the 15th (or Friday before if the 15th was a weekend) and the last day of the month.
Friday is the 19th. Payday should’ve been LAST Friday (the 15th was a federal holiday).
The Democrats really mean shut down this time.
They really mean it.
They really, really, really mean it.
Did I say really?
Yeah. Try to prevent any amendments to the bill.
Let the traitorous Democrats specifically VOTE to deny military personnel their wages.
Everyone calm down. When the funding bill gets passed, the money gets deposited. There are laws in place to protect servicemembers from losing houses/cars/etc and programs in place like Army Community Service to help out with short term loans. It’s a hassle, but nobody in the military expected things to be easy (well... Maybe the Air Force)
Pay the troops, but do NOT pay any union public employees affected by the shutdown.
Hey, hey, hey.
I resemble that remark.
They just got paid 2 days ago and next check is at the end of the month. Somebody is just trying to make it look like Trump is going to hurt the military. God, who at the Pentagon is stupid enough to say this? Never mind, I forgot it is full of Obama appointees.
As a citizen I would be happy to adopt a military family. I bet there are millions more like me. As a citizen I am also ready for an American government to replace the one we have.
I remember the same thing. The troops get paid.
I also believe I recall that when there was a shut down in the klintoon years IIRC that my Dad, who was USCEC a part of DoD, got paid. I could be wrong though.
Trump will let it shut down if he does not lose his nerve. He needs to get out front and tell the sheeple why he did it though.
Good find. Stupid Sherwood should be informed.
If they come up with one and avoid shutting down the government, then sure it counts.
They may achieve it. If so, good.
Take it easy.
Remember what you say if you are ever pinned down in the middle of the night and some zoomie drops off a tanker and dives into black mountain passes and valleys to blow somebody off your ass without hitting your ass. The trip he makes to do that even in good times would scare the living crap out of anyone and he would make it look easy. He would also be happy to help you as often as needed.
I’ll join you in that.
Thank you.
