Pentagon: Troops Will Not Be Paid if Government Shuts Down this Week
Breitbart ^ | 17 Jan 2018 | Kristina Wong

Troops will not receive a paycheck this Friday if Congress fails to pass a budget or another short-term spending measure by then, according to the Pentagon.

Troops will have to continue reporting for duty and will accrue pay, but cannot be paid until the actual money is appropriated, said Pentagon spokesman Christopher Sherwood in a statement to Breitbart News on Tuesday.

President Trump is not able to exempt troops from a government shutdown, he said.

Sacrifices. No more money for illegals! Period. The troops will know who betrayed them!

Fake news. I’ve a near 30 year military career and have seen multiple so-called “shutdowns”. I never recall not being paid on time.

“Hmmm... Wonder if Congress and the Senate get their paychecks?”

Now that would be something to end for 6 months to a year!

Their approval ratings would go through the roof.

I don't believe the troops are due to receive a paycheck this Friday. They get paid on the 1st and the 15th of the month.

This doesn’t sound right. Military is paid on the 1 st and 15 th; they should have already received their pay.

Unless something changed since I retired.

Remember how Obama tried to make his shutdown as painful as possible. Turn about is fair play. Shutdown EBT, section 8 payments, etc.

Dems don’t want troops to eat.

They are throwing troops over a cliff.

They want troops to drink dirty water.

Pay days are 15th and 30th, so no one gets paid this Friday in any case.

“said Pentagon spokesman Christopher Sherwood in a statement to Breitbart News on Tuesday.”

So Breitbart found a low level flunky to make a statement. All people who believe this turd has more power than the Commander in Chief, raise your skirts.

I bet you Trump pays the military without authorization. Let the dems sue him stop the payments.

“Mark my word folks, if there’s a way to do it, McConnell and Ryan will join the Democrats casting this as a Trump caused problem.”

I humbly think you are wrong. Ryan and McConnell have tasted winning and they like it. Right now this is all a game since Trump is holding all the cards and they just need to sit back and occasionally say the rats are doing this.

The troops I know would tough it out.
In 1970 a VC mortar took out the admin building on our base.
My records went up in smoke and it took the government 5 months to restore things and resume paying me.
If I can go 5 months without a paycheck, so can they. My check was huge when the records were restored.

Did they like winning enough to help Moore win? This election did come first though, but it was a must win and they were worse than AWOL on it.

That election was a real go to school moment. I hope everyone was paying attention.

They turned their back on a man that would have voted Conservative 99% of the time for the next 20-30 years.

Not only that, they and other top ‘Conservatives’ piped up to tell him to withdraw on the day those women went public.

There’s plenty of lose left in those two.

Mitch described last year as a year it would be hard to match. It wasn’t a great year by any stretch of the imagination, for Congress. Even the tax bill could have been drafted better IMO. I’ve accepted it, because we had to get moving to get the economy booming as soon as possible.

As I said, we’ll see how it goes during the government shut-down, if there is one.

You may be proven right. I’ve left room for my prediction to be off base. It may be. I just don’t trust those two at all.

So...fedgov is living, as it were, paycheck to paycheck, too? I’m not buying this BS.

Let’s see how DJT and the libturds play Chicken. Shut it down.
