This just in from what was once the best state in the Union:
Guess which state has the highest poverty rate in the country? Not Mississippi, New Mexico, or West Virginia, but California, where nearly one out of five residents is poor. Thats according to the Census Bureaus Supplemental Poverty Measure, which factors in the cost of housing, food, utilities and clothing, and which includes noncash government assistance as a form of income.
Given robust job growth and the prosperity generated by several industries, its worth asking why California has fallen behind, especially when the states per-capita GDP increased approximately twice as much as the U.S. average over the five years ending in 2016 (12.5%, compared with 6.27%).
The Left's first, last and only instinct is to throw more money at the problem, but California's already done that. and guess what?
Its not as though California policymakers have neglected to wage war on poverty. Sacramento and local governments have spent massive amounts in the cause. Several state and municipal benefit programs overlap with one another; in some cases, individuals with incomes 200% above the poverty line receive benefits. California state and local governments spent nearly $958 billion from 1992 through 2015 on public welfare programs, including cash-assistance payments, vendor payments and other public welfare, according to the Census Bureau. California, with 12% of the American population, is home today to about one in three of the nations welfare recipients.
The generous spending, then, has not only failed to decrease poverty; it actually seems to have made it worse.

RE: The State Now Leads the Nation in Pervertry..
Yeah, that too.
It’s probably the Sun ,the never ending Sun ,LOL
Heard on Rush today that there is a online map that depicts high quantities of human feces on San Francisco streets.
LOL
Saved!!!
Went to the redwoods at Christmas time. We drove home through the great Central Valley. Coastal Redwoods, Giant Sequoias, vineyards, gold, fisheries, miles upon miles of fruit trees and nut trees with oil wells working in between the rows, tourism, seaports. I said to my wife, “The only way this state can be going broke is because it’s being run by idiots.”
A state that rivaled countries in GDP is now basically a sh*thole. That is their utopia and they never realize the paradise they aim to achieve fills a toilet.
Yep. And they won't be able to do it without diverting resources from one bucket to another. That's the way CA government works. They tell us they need more money to fix roads, then divert the money for non-road purposes. They enact new taxes for one function, then divert it to the general fund and spend it elsewhere. They're down to diverting money from free drug items and sex programs, towards funding for the illegals. Meanwhile roads don't get fixed, but illegals get free services. Democrats always make a bigger mess of things without true solutions.
Not just great weather, but CA has plentiful jobs. I'm seeing help wanted notices everywhere, but lots of lazy bums who don't want to work. The ones who do take the jobs, are raked over the coals for taxes to support the bums. Homeless everywhere here in CA attracted by good weather and services, but lazy and troublemakers. Last week I saw a woman walk by a homeless guy in front of a store, the bum asking for spare change. She made some remark like "get a job" and then the homeless guy started screaming at her "b*tch!" over and over and almost assaulted her. Needless to say, no sympathy from me for that bum.
We vet and issue visas to those trusted CA's who did not get out in time.
They sort out their own mess, within their own domain, without any help or money from Uncle Sam.
Roads? Dams? Coastal defense? Electric grid. Whatever.
And if CA splits into three parts, we will accept the parts back that abide by our laws.
That would be the natural progression of things.
You can have a great economy, but if you let half of Mexico in, you are going to have some poverty.
State of Jefferson, northern California outside of the SF Bay Area. Called redneck country, conservative. People don't understand that there are conservatives in California, for the most part pushed out of the big cities. They still exist, but are outnumbered by the cities on the coast.
A full answer to that question would require terrabytes.
Not really. The problem with California is that its chock full of Californians.
L
Both the state and the country had everything at one time.
Their liberal leaders have p*ssed it all away.
I got screamed at by a crazy panhandler in Las Vegas a few weeks ago.
