Port-au-Prince, Haiti, is one of the largest cities in the world without a central sewage system. Most of the more than 3 million residents use outhouses and rely on workers with some of the worst jobs in the world, hauling away human excrement by hand one bucket at a time. The men are called bayakou, and they work in the dark by candlelight. Rebecca Hersher spent a night with a group of them.

Well done!
“Hauling Away Human Excrement By Hand”
Still more honorable than being a “journalist”.
“The description $#!+hole is accurate, whether Trump said it or not.”
My father is a WWII vet with a service related disability. The VA provides an aide for 2 hrs a day 5 days a week. He has had several refugees from Haiti and he cant stand them because they are so ignorant. The last one did not know the difference between an apple and a peach, or how to mop a floor.
Gross?
Such facilities were common for most of world history
the process was the origin of the term “Honey bucket”
WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Holy SHIT!!!!
In a country with unemployed and even homeless veterans, that is simply inexcusable!
Sometimes I say I gotta take a Durbin.

To clarify, the aides are not employees of the VA but are hired by a private company which is reimbursed by the VA.
I still find it appalling.
That’s how honey wagons work where I live. Nobody actually touches the efflunet without waterproof gloves.
Well... given the billions of fish, cetaceans and seagulls that poop in it... what’s a little island going to contribute so long as they haul it far enough out that it doesn’t clog the bays?
The Navy duped my brother off atop a mountain on Haiti and left him there for a couple weeks.
He confirms that the place definitely looked like a shithole from up there.
With all that crap, they SHOULD have a lot of healthy trees.
But no, apparently they burn them up as fast as they can grow them.
If only the Clinton Foundation had bought a lot of PVC pipe... they could deliver all that crap to the port, fill up a supertanker at a time, and export that night soil to North Korea to grow corn.
Road apples = Dobbin Durbin
