WASHINGTON Stephen K. Bannon, President Trumps former chief strategist, was subpoenaed last week by the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, to testify before a grand jury as part of the investigation into possible links between Mr. Trumps associates and Russia, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter.

After your recommended pre-game ploy, Bannon should answer each question with “if you would share your transcript of that call/conversation, I can review that content and make sure my recollection is accurate”.
I'm assuming that the story is referring to new congressional subpoenas served on Bannon while at the hearing, not the Mueller subpoenas, but it is a little confusing.
Two seperate subpoenas
Wolff is a liar but Bannon is a backstabber. He in fact did say that if he ran for POTUS the Mercers would back him. That’s why they dissociated from him. Why do you find the other quotes such a stretch, when the POTUS-ambition quotes are not in dispute?
‘These idiots think ... hes gonna attack Jared’
No ‘thinking,’ about it. Until Bannon ‘resigned,’ Breitbart was a stinking morass of anti-Kushner gossip. It made the site unreadable. It started after Bannon left the WH. The only accurate way to describe it was an anti-Jared vendetta.
Thankfully Bannon’s not at Breitbart anymore. Maybe the toxic, unsourced Kushner gossip will finally stop. [Not a fan of Kushner by any means. I just like nasty, unsourced gossip even less.]
Mueller... Grasping for straws.
I see that as a very plausible scenario.
The Left are rubbing their hands in delight at the prospect of Bannon "turning" on Trump like John Dean and others did with Nixon. So that scenario playing out would devastate them.
Cuz I can text him directly & he answers.
It sounds more like hero worship than objectivity. If your version is true, then both the Mercers and Breitbart would not have parted ways with Bannon. But Bannon was the one who gave Wolff access to the WH, and there is no whitewashing his role. He screwed Trump royally. That is a fact.
Wolff used Bannon to get unprecedented access to the WH. This is a fact. Bannon latched onto a toxic Trump-hater and gave him free and ongoing admittance to the WH. Without Bannon Wolfe would have had no book.
Bannon screwed Trump royally.
I see what you are saying; that Steve Bannon should have banned Wolff from the White House. I would think the Chief of Staff does that.
Bannon gave Wolff a WH pass and invited him in day after day. Why do you think Priebus was fired? It is likely that he approved.
Not everyone in the WH in the earlier days wanted Trump to succeed. Bannon was spreading the word that if he ran for POTUS, the Mercers would back him. Do the math.
I find the idea of Steve Bannon undermining President Trump in order to run for President himself hard to believe but I appreciate the insight.
Thank you for a measured reply. I appreciate the seeming cognitive dissonance of the idea, but consider these two points. First, how can a person be 100% behind a POTUS while concomitantly talking about their own possible upcoming run for the office and which big GOP donors would back them?
Perhaps even more telling is point #2. Upon his departure from the WH, Bannon said the following: The Trump presidency that we fought for, and won, is over.
You have to think about that statement for a while before it sinks in. But if you carefully weigh it, you’re likely to conclude that Bannon was equating himself with the presidency that we fought for and won. When he left the WH, it ended.
Now that is a revealing comment. It shows that Bannon believed *he* was more of what we fought for when we elected Trump than Trump was himself. When that is your belief, then of course your first loyalty is to yourself. YOU, not Trump, are the valuable part of the presidency, the essence. So your first and foremost goal must be to advance yourself—at Trump’s expense if necessary.
I’m merely expounding on Bannon’s own statement. He may have said more than he intended to. In any event, it was a profoundly unhealthy attitude, and it’s far better for Trump to have Bannon gone.
He didn’t deny 100%. He said these remarks were aimed at Manafort not Don Jr.
I think he's proven himself rather untrustworthy, unreliable and, frankly, not real honest. JMO.
Coming from Meghan McNuts? Oh, ok! The nut doesn't fall far from the tree!
are they done Waterboarding Bannon yet ?,.....I wonder what they got
You certainly don’t know the Mercers. They are classic “want a revolution but no blood please” types.
