Mine is a 289 two barrel with an automatic. If I’m in a hurry I have to find a gas station with nobody there. Otherwise I get tied up in talking to people. It’s fun.
I sold my 2000 Ford Ranger a couple of months ago, it had 84,000 miles and I only drove it to town and back. Great truck, but it did require maintenance.
Had a Toyota Tercel I kept for 22 years - two mufflers, several sets of tires, one timing belt, and one recalled part - other than oil changes. Rusted out from salt air, traded in got $1500 on new Corolla.
On the other hand the Dodge Ram 4by I owned ate starters, drive shafts, rotors, and had to be rebuild cause the turkeys at the factory put the rings in inline so it ate oil from the day I took in new off the dealers lot - the oil problem and the brake problems were ‘normal” according to the dealer.
I owned a Subaru Forrester, I think it was the 2nd model year. Great car, put a lot of miles on it and so was the Subaru Legacy station wagon we had before that. Ran that car like crazy, to over 250k with only very basic maintenance and oil changes, got me through the blizzard of ’96 like a champ before we gave it to my nephew and he ran it another 50k in the rough winter in NH, before he sold it.
I bought a low mileage Toyota Yaris which was a great little car but, too little, too light, not good in the snow or even in the heavy rain, would hydroplane all over, so I traded it in on a Nissan Rouge but now have a Nissan Sentra which I love.

My Toyota Tercel had her 21st birthday and runs like the day she was born. I expect to pass before she does.
Had a 2000 Park Avenue that I ekpt for 11 years ran to 247,000 when the tranny blew.
Sometimes saw up to 26 mpg on straight and flat, handled incredibly well in all weather.
I had a co-worker with an ‘85 Nissan that had hit 350,000. Even after he made it to upper management and was driving BMW’s, he kept it. He said he liked having one vehicle he knew would always start.
Cars like that are still out there. Get one cheap, rebuild it your way.

I have a 2010 Toyota Tundra I bought new off the floor. I’ve have only 30k miles on it and remains like new.
I bought a new red 2017 Corvette Z07 off the showroom floor last April....I love this car and doubt I will ever trade it off.
Thinking about and presently shopping for a 2018 Cadillac Escalade.
LOL...After 45 years of dreaming about one, it took me 3.5 years of shopping to finally decide on the Corvette, so I guess the Cadillac could be a 2022 by the time I buy it, if I ever do. I looked at the Lincoln Navigator, but I have never owned a Ford that I ever liked....except a 1936 Ford pickup I had when I was a kid. Dumping that was the worst deal I have ever made.

Pretty much anything maintained religiously by OEM standards can run to 300,000 miles or more.
Bonus points if it’s rear wheel drive, timing chain (vs belt) a toyota or nissan, synthetic oil, quality fuel and frequent washes and waxes, maybe even getting a sealant applied every couple years.
Plenty of the actual vehicles may have been built in the US.

My son has a 1997 Toyota Landcruiser to haul his two kids in. It has a third row to add more car seats when there is a group outing.
Has a sunroof so no DVD in the ceiling but you add a plug-in DVD player for 100 bux.
It will go anywhere, classifies in the totally off-road category, so good for going skiing in the mountains or camping off the beaten path.
