Sen. David Perdue, R-Ga., repeatedly said Sunday morning that reports President Trump referred to Haiti and various African countries as "shithole countries" during a meeting with senators this week on immigration was a "gross misrepresentation."
Perdue use the phrase "gross misrepresentation" several times during an interview with ABC's "This Week."

It’s almost too late for a correction. It does not really matter now.
If he didn’t say this, then what exactly DID he say?
Aside from that, the quote and it’s meaning have already been absorbed by the general public. Some are cautiously agreeing with this perspective. ‘Why are WE taking in all these uneducated, unskilled, uncivilized people from poorly managed countries?”
Most of us find it easy to believe that the president would say something like this. So what if it was not verbatim?
The Genie (the FORBIDDEN topic of 3rd countries) has already been let out of the bottle, and is being openly talked about. The president will be alright. The GOP will survive.
The public discourse will benefit from this open discussion that no other modern president wished to bring up.
Jeb! never, ever, EVER would allow himself to think, let alone say this.
I like Little Dick Durban
“A lie told once remains a lie, but a lie told a thousand times becomes the truth.” ~ Joseph Goebbels
He has already used Lying (Ted Cruz).
Lying Tricky Dick Durbin!
If I were Trump I would never have a meeting Durbin again. But if forced to meet with him I’d record the entire meeting. And I’d have my personal attorney with me.
Leaky dick.
Going to the press and telling them what was (alledgedly) said in private .
Haiti ... Dominican Republic ... same island ... different results. I doubt many people want to leave DR ... and I doubt that anyone could call DR any-hole. Perhaps the focus should be on self-improvement rather than exodus to willing-countries.
It is amazing the difference between these two countries with a common border.
Like Mexico compared to the USA.
I think he said sh*tty, without the hole.
> Well, what did he sayspecifically. <
Great question. The articles says that Durbin “had a habit of twisting comments”. So just what were those comments?
I find this whole thing very odd.
I don't expect to agree 100% with politicians I support. There are times I have disagreed with Trump. But what is the alternative? Democrats have said far worse things, and nothing has been done.
Many people, including politicians, probably do think this term applies to certain countries but don't dare to express it.
20 point IQ discrepancy between both sides of the island, as well. Low 60s to DR’s low 80s. Both abysmally low but one is cripplingly low.
Turban Durbin
I reckon President Trump is just sitting back and will pick a time that will provide maximum damage to the RATS and the RINOS.
Trump mentioned recording in a tweet this morning: "Fortunately we now record conversations with reporters..."
It would make perfect sense that the DACA meeting would have been recorded. Trump has announced that this Wednesday, the "Fake News Awards" event will take place. That would be a perfect time to release the recording if it does, in fact, exist.
As this “set” fire rages over the news cycles, I wonder what President Trump is doing behind the noise. :-) Best the opposition watches the OTHER hand, not the obvious one.
> I think Trump probably used the word. ... My guess, though, is that Trump did not use it in the context as it has been described. <
Those are probably good assumptions. I find it difficult to believe that Durbin made Trump’s comment up out of thin air.
But at the same time I find it difficult to believe that Perdue would out-and-out lie. So yeah, I think you’ve nailed it here.
And as an aside, if Trump did use that word (even in a correct context), then he needs to be more careful. Democrats can get away with almost anything. But not Republicans.
That’s my theory as well. I suspect he was responding to the issue of whether to legalize refugees from these countries and said something like, “yes I know they’d have to go back to these shithole countries, but that can’t be our priority concern.” In other words as usual in these questions he was arguing not for discriminating against people from these countries but instead against granting them a preference. But to the left that’s racist.
A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes. — Mark Twain
>> was a “gross misrepresentation.”
Yeah, Trump was prolly referring to Durbin.
Their focus is not on "the" problems they're supposed to be dealing with.
Instead, they focus on some inconsequential comment by the president in a closed meeting.
The proof he said it: Dick Turd Man, a chronic liar and exaggerator. Oh, and did I mention he was a dirty democRAT?
To me, it makes all the crybaby whiners look bad, not Trump.
Boy, were the pearl-clutchers out in full force on the Sunday morning cable TV shows. Pretty much the world is coming to an end because of some derisive term allegedly about made about the "sh*tholes of the world.
Horrors!
