Your general sentiment is fine. I just don’t see how that applies to tolls on a highway. Imagine how great this country would be if every public service or amenity was financed by the people who actually use it. I would love to see every parent with kids in public schools get a bill at the beginning of every school year, for example.
Parents do not pay taxes for their kids. This is so wrong. Everybody pays school taxes to pay back society for their own opportunity of a public education. Todays kids will be paying for their own education in due time. I recall telling a kid who was proud of taking an “AV class” (audio visual back in the day), I asked him if he really wanted to pay taxes for the rest of his life, for the opportunity push a movie projector between classrooms?
