A shocking video showing a starving Venezuelan mob beating a cow to death with stones has gone viral amid violent protests that have left four people dead.
Dozens of men shout 'we are hungry' and 'people are suffering' as they surround the cow in the field, throwing stones at it and beating it with a stick.
The helpless animal was slaughtered at the Hacienda Miraflores, in the fishing village of Palmarito in Merida, during a day deadly of civil unrest and looting in the state.

“Venezuela is what happens when everyone has the right to vote.”
I fear we are also headed that way

Anybody remember when “Venzuela” vacation packages were a regular prize on the Price is Right?
Somewhere there was a website that displayed various photos of Venezuela in a ten year span before and after Chavez...it was quite instructive

"Hell, they dont even know enough not to slaughter one of their few sources of milk."
Heh. That was the kind of milk a city slicker would drink. Not me!
It was a bull. It was standing broadside to the camera part of the time, and it was very obvious.

Sorry.
I do text-only downloads because I’m in a bandwidth-poor country....Unless of course it’s a topic that peaks the interest of Laz. Then I’ll splurge on a few pictures.

Oh! Sorry. I failed to notice the geographical hint in your username. But yes. The video shows a bull. I also see that the article excerpted from the U.K. Daily Mail mentions a "cow." ;-)
The U.S.A. is also bandwidth-poor in many rural areas for lack of competition between ISPs (satellite or cellular only with long term contracts). Fiber lines go right through towns but only for telephone service. Videos work, but customers unable to pay well over $100 per month must allow the videos to cache for some time before viewing or download slowly and delete. Services in the cities are much faster and less expensive (free WiFi near some public libraries in some deteriorating cities).

On Venezuela, between the long standing corruption and more recently low oil prices, life is horrible there. It was always bad for most, but its far worse for many more now.
Having worked many temporary jobs, I’ve worked with many people from countries south of our southern border. Many of the construction and manufacturing workers were easy to get along with and sometimes very informative about their countries of origin.
Most of those in administrative offices, however, were either fascists or communists and very anti-American only in the presence of Americans like myself: that is, men who were not in management, especially those of us with prior enlisted military service. It seemed that they perceived us as being peasants.

Well, be careful if you go to Venezuela. Somebody might confuse you for a pheasant, beat you to death with sticks and rocks and roast your hide.
And put out a video of it.

Yes, that is how the top scum want to peg us all, as animals. No different from the beasts in the field. Driven by hunger and fear.
There are factions among the uppermost who differ on how this zoo should function. The faction which desires a spectacle of desperate beasts tearing each other apart...I pray they are pulled down among us, so we may entomb them deep and cold for a thousand years. A thousand years for us to prosper in the sunshine.

More of us will probably be avoiding s***hole countries in general. We do have a national drug problem because of those countries, though. Maybe we can talk our President into appointing Duterte to a good position. If so, please loan him to us for a while. ;-)

On a very old thread, I suggested Duterte for Attorney General. He could give lots of swamp critters a one-way flight to 500 feet in his helicopter.(As he was alleged to have done when he was Mayor in Davao). Mark17 lives there and might have some better insight as to whether that is Urban legend or fact.

I have asked people in Davao about the helicopter rides. They seem to indicate that is an urban legend. Now, the DDS (Davao death squads) May be closer to the truth.
I was in Lipa City back in October, to see my son, who had come in from California. He is getting ready to go to USAF OTS at Maxwell, AL, then on to SUPT. You are right about being bandwidth challenged. I was frustrated with the slowness of their internet speed. Here in Davao, I used to be with Globe at 10 MPS. When the contract expired, I switched to PLDT, fiber optics (yes, we actually DO have fiber optics here) and get 50 MPS for 2899 pesos a month, about $55. I think the next step up, is 200 MPS, for 6,000 a month, but 50 is fast enough for me.
