ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia President Trumps dismissal of Haiti, El Salvador and African nations as s-hole countries whose inhabitants are not desirable for U.S. immigration shocked people around the world and provoked swift condemnation.
The African Union Commission is frankly alarmed at statements by the president of the United States when referring to migrants of African countries and others in such contemptuous terms, said Ebba Kalondo, the spokeswoman for the African Union.
The reaction from the United Nations human rights spokesman, Rupert Colville, was uncharacteristically blunt. He described the remark as racist.
In Haiti, people took to Twitter to share pictures of their country verdant green hills, palm trees in the sunset, and sparkling turquoise water.
Hey #S-HolePresident! wrote Harold Isaac. Here is what my #s-hole looks like.
The deputy secretary general of the African National Congress, the party once led by Nelson Mandela, hit back at Trumps comment during a news conference in South Africa.
Ours is not a s-hole country. Neither is Haiti or any other country in distress, Jessie Duarte said.

Did Trump say something not true?
[ And why are they trying to change OUR country to be more like their home countries, instead of trying to change their home countries to be more like ours? ]
The answer is obvious: They know all too well what their fellow citizens are like in those countries.
This is the story of Mexico. This is why the jerk Vicente Fox lives in America and NOT Mexico.
Explain that one, Fox. Oh you can’t - you’ll just lie when in fact it’s Reconquista, ain’t it?
The worship of Satan via “dark religions” (nothing to do with skin color) brings exactly what it brings. This is why Africa was called “The Dark Continent”.
The UN and the “Turd world” nations expect the USA to assume their nature. That would only be fair, according to them.
After all, we share one planet and we should therefore share its wealth and also its poverty.
Didn’t Obama make it clear when he chided the successful that they did not create nor deserve the fruits of their success?
It is like dirty and less dirty kids taking a bath in one bath tub and sitting in each other’s dirty water. THAT IS FAIR!!
[I have a good friend who is an immigrant from South Africa. She and her husband are here because they (literally) cant work in South Africa because they are white, are tired of being treated as criminals.]
That problem has come, to a significant degree, to America. It really evolved under BHO 2008-2016. If any morons in America are thinking of supporting anyone other than President Trump, don’t come crying when your SJW efforts turn back upon you.
I’ve visited many of these *holes. And I can attest that the President’s descriptor is accurate.
However the mistake here is assuming that all the residents of said *holes are not worthy to immigrate to USA. I know many that have started companies and created hundreds of jobs here, unlike many of the inner city folks here who collect welfare checks.
We should evaluate people based on what they bring to the table as individuals. And I think deep down this is Trump’s point: we should not have “diversity” quotas for immigration because that makes no sense. Take the best and brightest, whether they be from Norway or elsewhere. Leave the impoverished low skill types to rot or fix their own countries - we already have too many here.
That was my reaction as well. Since these countries are in such great shape there is no reason to continue the temporary status of the people who came here. Send them home
South Jersey is still nice and the very northernmost part.
[Yes, they are or you would not be fleeing them.]
Yes, they are. I call them economic and spiritual disasters.
IOW, what liberals would bring if all of their stupid, crazy notions were ACTUALLY fully-implemented (some already are).
Better known as the "Commies"......
Exactly! These paradises on Earth are now ready to receive their residents back!!
I spent two weeks in Haiti in 1984. It was a shithole at the time. I have friends still connected to Haitian missionary work - and Haiti is a bigger shithole now after the earthquake (that, in true “never waste a crisis” mode, the Clintons used to fleece donors and the Haitian government of foreign aid).
This is not the same as calling the people of Haiti names - they are poor and subsist (not “live”) under chronically corrupt governments. Aided and abetted by American politicians (aka the Clinton clan) that ensure they forever remain so.
Verdant hills do not a prosperous country make.
I would like the Democrats to explain why it is better....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’d like the same answer from the Bush League Republicans.
I get why the Democrats want to import a new electorate.
Why are the Bush League Republicans helping them?
President Trump: Making Shitholes Great Again
I spent many happy hours fishing in the uninhabitable swamps of south Jersey.
Well, ya know, The Clinton Foundation keeps what, 90%, of the donations?
I would think the people of Haiti are ready to go after them with pitchforks and torches.
Same with the Univision twerp who lives in Miami and not Mexico City.
Absolutely. Good call.
George Ramos, IIRC.
And so the question boils down to, “are we simply going to sit on our asses and just take it?”
Are we going to be cowed by their name calling or are we going to protect what we created?
Wheeling? I love the way it looks! Driving through from Philly to MO I would slow down and thought it looks gorgeous. BUT my grandparents are from Budapest, Hungary and I often thought maybe it was genetic. I also love the mountains and am leaving WV open as an option to relocate. :)
In regards to NJ, I grew up on the Pennsy side of the delaware. I just defended NJ on another thread. I got lost in the northern hills once, very nice. I like the Pine Barrens, like the root beer floats, love the corn, love the farms and blueberries, love the history (GW did go there!) and really like the drive north along the Delaware. The tentacles of NYC are no fault of its own.
OH, I also like Cape May. When I go to NC I take 295 south from trenton instead of 95. I go down along the coast. I hate 95 but I’m never in a rush to go anywhere.
