OSLO - Many Norwegians rejected on Friday a suggestion by U.S. President Donald Trump that they would be more welcome to move to the United States than immigrants from “shithole countries” such as Haiti or African nations.
The Nordic country, one of the richest in the world by GDP per capita, was last year named the happiest nation on the planet and is known for a cradle-to-grave welfare state funded in part by large reserves of oil and natural gas.
“On behalf of Norway: Thanks, but no thanks,” tweeted Torbjoern Saetre, a politician representing Norway’s Conservative Party in a municipality near Oslo.
Others condemned the U.S. president’s comments as inappropriate or racist.
“We are not coming. Cheers from Norway,” one woman wrote.
While hundreds of thousands of Norwegians emigrated to the U.S. in the 19th century, just 502 out of a population of 5.3 million people moved there in 2016, down 59 from the previous year, according to Statistics Norway.

Weird. I think the opposite - well being Norwegian I know my country - Mediterrenian women age terribly.
Though how you age is very related to individual genetics. Some look 30 almost in their 50’s, whilst some look 50 at 30. And, not only because of lifestyle or diet.
A lot of Europeans no longer see any point to coming here; we were matching their unemployment and high taxes, and offering less job security and paid vacation. Really.
Well I’m of Mediterranean blood and most people think I’m about 8 years younger than I am. For what it’s worth I think I look a few years older than my age. It’s an opinion after all.
I just know the Nordic & German women I dated a few years back all aged significantly and not for the better. It could be diet, genetics, lifestyle and a host of other things. Just my observations.
And Lene Nystrom definitely doesn’t look younger than her age.
I wouldn’t come here, at least right now. Maybe in a few years Trump will improve things to the point where it would make sense.
Friends from Spain pointed out a point (back in the 1990s, IIRC) when for the first time more Spaniards moved from the US back to Spain than in the other direction. It was very disturbing back then, and the fact that Spain’s economy was never great made it even more so.
“Norwegians reject”, “many Norwegians rejected” is one Conservative politician, one “woman” who “wrote” something somewhere (is she even Norwegian? who knows?), and one “American professor of journalism” in Sweden. anything from Reuters with Alister Doyle connected to it (he’s their #1 gate-keeper of the globull warming scam) is not to be trusted.

of course, world media is picking this piece up.
I believe Norwegians see no gain in coming here, and will let the numbers speak for themselves. While you point out great examples of “newspeak” (where vague generalizations are presented as fact), most Europeans would not improve their standard of living by coming here. They deal with murderous Muslims and rampaging African immigrants, but so do we; they seem quite content to just disappear into history without leaving a trace of the Western Civilization that made them great, and without leaving any children either.
Lene is defintely lifestyle and ... It’s very individualistic I think...
