It has been nearly three months since Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico, and the island’s recovery has been slow. The U.S. territory is struggling with shortages of food and medical supplies, and a full 45% of residents still don’t have power.
San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz blames Washington for failing to devote adequate resources to Puerto Rico’s recovery — she recently dubbed President Trump the “disaster-in-chief”. But a journalist for El Nuevo Día, the newspaper with the largest circulation in Puerto Rico, has found a different culprit: “the Jew.”
Columnist Wilda Rodríguez wrote a piece on Monday, titled “What Does ‘The Jew’ Want From The Colony?” According to Rodríguez, it is “Wall Street types,” not politicians, that dictate U.S. policy. And, who are the power brokers on Wall Street?
“In the end, Congress will do what ‘the Jew’ wants, as the vulgar prototype of true power is called,” she wrote.
Rodríguez added a disclaimer: “No offense to people of that religion.” She even argued that the term is a source of pride for Israeli Jews.
“More than 20 years ago, the Israeli paper Ma’ariv had an article in Hebrew that explained how the Jews control Washington,” she wrote. “For Israelis, recognizing Jewish power over Washington is not an offensive statement. It is the victory of the Diaspora.”
What does ‘the Jew’ want? Rodriguez believes that Wall Street is punishing Puerto Ricans because of the island’s $70 billion debt. “That we could get away without paying would be fatal to Wall Street morale,” she wrote. “The punishment needs to make it clear to the debtor world that Wall Street cannot be manipulated.”
El Nuevo Día has since added an editorial note to the top of the article that apologizes to the island’s Jewish community, adding, “we do not promote content that can be interpreted as anti-Semitic.”

We assume our responsibility and we want to be totally emphatic in that we do not promote content that can be interpreted as anti-Semitic, just as we do not promote content that sponsors hatred or discrimination based on gender, religion or racial ethnicity.
EXPLANATORY NOTE FROM COLUMNIST WILDA RODRÍGUEZ: I deeply regret that my writing is interpreted as anti-Semitic. My path is clear. Prejudice and racial or religious hostility have never been part of it. I can understand the psychic reaction of some to the mere use of the Jewish word. But the intention is not to provoke offense, but to contribute to public discussion. With that clear, I apologize to those who in good faith have felt hurt by my political allusion. I do not have and will never intend to aggravate them.

We started 2018 with the same uncertainty that left us the year before: what are the plans of the metropolis for its colony?
Contrary to many who seem to be sure that the plan is to "let go", I think that those who currently have the problem in their hands do not know what to do or do not care as much as we want to believe. What to do with an insolvent territory that has gotten out of hand precisely because of the greed of the system that was implanted? How to save the prestige of paternalistic greatness and generosity that they pretend in a relationship that failed? How much importance is given to the only colony that keeps them dubiously in the category of empire?
It would be necessary to know who are the ones called to make the decision. To speak here of the secret structure that rules the United States is the exclusive theme of an elite. Only behind closed doors the most enlightened politicians speak of US power as a parallel government organized by the forces of wealth and violence (war machine) from Wall Street. These same politicians are promoting the country to look only at 535 types and tipas who travel through a huge dome building in Washington DC and whose lane direction changes every two years.
That entertainment with what Congress thinks is what prevents us from analyzing and reaching intelligent conclusions about the future possibilities of our country. We are waiting for the American without knowing who is the American who commands in these cases.
That is not Congress. The Congress will finally do what "the Jew" wants, as they call it vulgarly the prototype of true power, without pretending to offend the religious of that aspect. More than twenty years ago in the Israeli newspaper Ma'ariv an article appeared explaining in Hebrew how the Jews finally controlled Washington. For Israelis, recognizing Jewish power over the United States is no offense. It is the victory of his diaspora.
And what then does the "Jew" want to do with the colony? That is the question.
I think that what "the Jew" dedicates to us in his loaded itinerary about wars and gains is not enough to reach conclusions. When it comes to mind, he sure thinks: What the hell are we doing there yet? How do we get out of this trap? We're going to have to think about this. Let see if tomorrow we take a little time to give him a helmet. Or next week.
In other words, it does not urge you like us. Life is not going to us.
Certainly, the public debt of seventy billion is not your big concern. Already the debtors charged more than interest. It is not the pocket, it is the "moral" of the speculator that is wounded. That we can get away with not paying without a warning would be fatal to Wall Street's morale. We should punish ourselves in some way. Of some other because they already punish us enough. But, in their terms, the punishment would have to be evident so that the debtor world understands that Wall Street is not manipulated.
In those terms, we could think that this punishment can be political and what better punishment for a people that "treasures" their relationship with the United States than breaking the relationship.
The problem is that we do not know if they are even thinking about it because there is no one at that level who has been honest with us.
So? Then the route would be to force that decision. Which of course do not want to make the colonial parties engaged in their electoral survival.
I am convinced that this work will have to be done by our diaspora.
The Left are just Nazis. They don’t really hide it.
Puerto Rico BORROWED the money knowing full well that they would never repay it.

The US Government does the same thing.
That attitude explains why they produce nothing, have lousy infrastructure, and depend on Washington for everything.
Give them independence. Within 2 minutes of that they will become communist and kiss up to the castros.
Maybe “The Jew” will do something that will enable Puerto Rico to earn its keep amongst the global land masses. Round up all the “Palestinians” and ship them off the San Juan and then blockade the island so that no one can leave. Israel and some of the wealthier Arab states would openly and secretly be glad to get rid of them and likely pay a decent amount per head to the U.S. Winning two ways.

The comments at the article, not Forward, are mixed. Sounds like the 3,000 Jews on the island Jews on the island are holding the 3.5 million virtual hostage. She's right though, the island is a mess.

3 months, 90 days, massive destruction. A WMD without criminality. 90 days is a spit in the bucket of the time it us going to take to rebuild. The press is a corp of armchair vultures, who have never cracked a sweat. The press has absolutely no sense of the hard labor involved in a rebuild of this scope. The first priority being the physical stability and health of the population.
If you want all things back to normal in 90 days it is a miracle being hoped for, and Hope is not a method.

Blacks are Democrats who vote like plantation beggers. Got to rid your destructive tribalism and embrace individuals not skin color.
Puerto Rico would be an independent country today, had it not been for the Spanish-American War. Spain would have been caught up in decolonization and dumped it, if not after World War I or II, certainly by the time Franco died.
Spain lost the war, but at least in Puerto Rico, it won the peace.
