As another spending bill deadline looms, Democrats seem willing to shut down the government in order to save the Obama-era program Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). The program involved allowing "Dreamers," children of immigrants who have integrated into American society, to remain in the country, despite their questionable legal status. A memo from Jennifer Palmieri, who served as director of communications for President Barack Obama and candidate Hillary Clinton, revealed why Democrats may be willing to fall on their swords for DACA.
"The fight to protect Dreamers is not only a moral imperative, it is also a critical component of the Democratic Party’s future electoral success," Palmieri, now president of the Center for American Progress (CAP) Action Fund, wrote in the revealing memo.
Palmieri drew a line in the sand. "Democrats should refuse to offer any votes for Republican spending bills that do not offer a fix for Dreamers and instead appropriate funds to deport them," she wrote. "Political allegiances are made in moments like these."
"If Democrats don't try to do everything in their power to defend Dreamers, that will jeopardize Democrats' electoral chances in 2018 and beyond. In short, the next few weeks will tell us a lot about the Democratic Party and its long-term electoral prospects," she concluded in the memo, originally published by The Daily Caller.

Okay Democrats, send him a bill that grants him what he wants, and gives you what you want.
I’m not convinced they can pull it off.
Wait until they try to shut down the government. It will be tantamount to him getting them to dig their own political graves.
please force a shut down of 800,000 non essential federal employees and another 800,000 consultant leeches.

I mean, really, who has reason to fear them most other than the Democrats whose base is MOST demanding for all these government services as a matter of ideology?
The Republican base, by contrast, is not ideologically wed to these the same, if at all in numerable instances.

Quite survivable, and by now, most know that they are mere forms of corruption-based extortion, in which the shut-ers are willing to mess with peoples' lives in order to temporarily enhance their headlines.
Could be good stuff for election-year soundbites for the GOPers.
We have laws for reasons and thwarting those laws by overwhelming the resources to enforce them is treasonous. Justifying it to build an expanded voter base is an admission of guilt in felonious activity.

Criminals, drugs, gangs, human trafficking etc. They don’t care they want those kids growing up voting Dem.
Make the “furloughed” non essential Federal Employees use up any Personal / Vacation time on their time off.
To be nice, let them take the time in advance of what they would earn during the year. If they quit before the year is out, dock them for the unearned time off they were already paid for.
One might remember that the Republicans control the Congress and the Presidency - not that that is worth much to us.
Shutting down the federal gov’t. in a way such as described sounds like a real bonus to me.
Trump inoculated himself today against the Dems threatened shutdown.
That was part of the reason for televising today’s meeting.
If the govt shuts down, Trump cannot now be blamed.

OK approve DACA on one condition. that every child reports in. given a tattoo and GPS tag. Then they need to be checked to see if they are actually children.
