KADENA, Japan – On Jan. 7, the U.S. Navy sent a P-8A aircraft attached to the ‘Fighting Tigers’ of Patrol Squadron EIGHT (VP-8) to assist in an international search and rescue (SAR) effort in the East China Sea following a collision between two commercial vessels.

I was stationed there from Feb 79 to Aug 80 in the USAF.

Spent 3 years in VP-8 during the 70s. We were flying the oldest P3-A Orion’s in the fleet. Deployed to Bermuda, Lajes and Keflavik.
