“Intelligence information is housed by compartments. Each intelligence unit holds intelligence unique to that compartment. The FBI Counter-Intelligence Unit would hold the intelligence information specific to their task or assignment; the DOJ National Security Division would hold their own compartmented intelligence; again, specific to their task and objectives. So too would the DOJ, DoD (Pentagon), State Dept., or CIA.
This compartmented structure is what led to the creation of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, ODNI. The 911 commission recommended the office to serve as a hub able to ensure intelligence sharing; that is to ensure intelligence was not intentionally withheld from other compartments when needed.”
Sundance is in WAY over his head here. Compartmentalization was not set up as he describes, or for the reasons he states.
It’s not even close.
As just one example: A SIOP (Single Integrated Operations Plan) is a Military plan to achieve a specific objective. It’s shared throughout the DoD services involved. And it’s SCI. Need to know only.
But it can, and often is, shared with NSA, CIA and State.
Cut the guy some slack. Not everyone has had a clearance for fifty years like you and I have.
What did he get wrong? SCI is need to know, can be shared, but is organic to the mission of the originator.
So did Rogers save us from a constitutional crisis or is Sundance incorrect?
Uh, oh! you dare to critique the faultless and brilliant former grocery store manager mark bradman aka sundance? You are asking for flam8ng from those who live and breathe and hang onto his every word, regardless of how speculative and inaccurate it might be. But I guess your correction to his article will, unlike posting at Conservative Treehouse, still allow you to stay on FR. Over at CTH any dissent, however, intelligent, is cause for immediate banning. Only the Cult of Sundance is allowed at CTH.
