French President: 'U.S., Israel's comments on Iran could lead to war'

French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday claimed that the tone of comments adopted by the United States, Israel and Saudi Arabia towards Iran was virtually “a path to war”, Reuters reports.

“The official line pursued by the United States, Israel and Saudi Arabia, who are our allies in many ways, is almost one that would lead us to war,” Macron was quoted as having told reporters.

The line being taken was “a deliberate strategy for some,” he said, while adding that France wanted to maintain some balance.

“Otherwise, we end up surreptitiously rebuilding an ‘axis of evil’,” he said, referring to a comment by former U.S. President George W. Bush, who once used that term to describe countries including Iran, Iraq and North Korea.

Macron also said he would only visit Iran if there was a return to calm and respect for freedoms.

So showing support for those who are protesting a brutally repressive regime that also happens to be the leading sponsor of terrorism in the world isn’t something that France wants to be involved with. Not exactly surprising. The Obama regime supported the mullahs as well. Leftists invariably choose to support evil.

If I recall correctly, France raided the offices of the Iranian resistance (in France) during the 2009 protests, apparently in support of the mullah regime.

Information captured in those raids, may well have been used for the roundup, torture and executions of regime opponents in the aftermath.

Yes. It might provoke them to do something rash, like be even more brutal and repressive, or sponsor more terrorism. We can learn from the bad example of Moses, who, when he asked for a holiday for the bricklayers' union members and their families, was told they would have to make bricks with no straw. He provoked Pharaoh! It was all his fault!/s

Let this be a lesson to you, young man.

Yessir. From now on I'll never encourage slaves to get uppity, 'cause that'll only make things worse for them, and then they'll blame it all on you. And, geez, you might even start a war, and then you'll end up surrendering like a Frenchman!

The Mullahs are their boys. You might recall Ayatollah Khomeini was granted refuge in Paris in 1978 against the recommendation of French intelligence. From where he undermined the Shah. With the cooperation of the PLO, of all people. The more things change, the more they don't.

It appears that President Macron is more concerned about the creation of a new peaceful Iran coming out of this revolution because the trade rules will change to favor other countries over France.
