I go through nights of that, then one night I’ll sleep good and that continues for some days until the sleeplessness starts again. When I was younger, going without sleep was fine, but now not so much.

Seems to be part of the “growing old syndrome”.
When my dad was going through this, I read somewhere that elders don’t need as much sleep.
His answer, “BULL”.
And I call “BULL” on needing less sleep too.
