JFK’s father Joseph P Kennedy was the Ambassador to London at that time, and he strongly opposed against providing any aids to UK.

If the leaders of a fee Europe in the 1930s had confronted the little dictators, then Churchill would likely have been a little known figure. America saved Europe and Asia in this mess.

FDR's hands were tied, the mood in the country was solidly isolationist. Listen to FDR's "Arsenal of Democracy" speech in December of 1940, he was literally begging for us to get into the war, and frankly I think FDR was hoping that the Axis would declare war on the US, and get it over with.
