They stand like surreal monuments in the California scrubland: prototypes of Donald Trump's proposed "big, beautiful" border wall between the US and Mexico.

The eight 30ft high slabs are the first tangible part of the controversial project that the US President says will help solve America's immigration problems.

“what is the deal with the round top?”

If you are trying to free climb, those big round tops are showstoppers. The small round top is a significant challenge, especially at thirty feet in the air, where a slip can mean a broken bone, or worse.

Both kinds of round top counter grappling hooks from getting a grip.

Yeah, it is a rerun.

But you can keep on defending inaction and failure if you like.

I won’t.

WERE THE **** IS THE WALL I VOTED FOR?!

I am a fan of doing what I say I am going to do.

I am a fan of America with Americans in it.

What the Hell are you a fan of? Being a loser.

You start with the first stone, then you move to the second, and then on to the third, and then the fourth, and then the fifth, and you continue this step by step process until the project is complete.

Thank me very much.

Definitely double walls. That way there is a road in between them. Plenty of ways to use that. Not just for capture but also for upkeep, updating, testing various methods....I have no clue about all of the logisitics but the double fence seems like a no-brainer.

The one with the pipe at the top? Connect them all together and it’s a stealth pipeline.

“The wall is dependent on a promise... that Mexico would pay for the wall.”

Building a wall does depend on funding, but it does not have to be Mexican funding. As long as there is money to pay the contractors, we can argue over the bill from behind a big, beautiful wall.

There is talk of a big infrastructure bill being negotiated next month - maybe a trillion dollars, like Obama’s. Ten billion for a wall would be huge, twenty billion would be enough to do pretty much the whole length (except the tough mountain stretches).

All the planning and prototyping and contracting that went on this year got us ready to execute a big load of money.

The wall is really now “shovel-ready” for 2018 contract awards.

I was only half being a smart ass, but Coyotes (the smuggling kind, not the four legged kind) would be the ones to pick a remote spot and create a breach, then later take groups of migrants to the breach.

“And for the people who say it can’t be done.”

They seem to be the same people that claim we can change the climate of the earth.

But it is impossible for the USA to secure its southern border.

"Without a doubt, it is a wall of hate....

That's right !

It is a "wall of hate" against a globalist elite that wants to incite mass migrations to destroy independent nations !

Yes, but you can imagine that the position of the US would be even more difficult than the one of Israel facing Palestinian terrorists. Everyone (Well, at least the media, the Democrats, the establishment wing of the Republicans, the EU, most countries of the world...) would say that a military response to a criminal act (as they would call it) is unacceptable, that it could have been prevented if the US had not started building the wall, which - according to them - is not really needed, that the US should defuse the situation and stop building the wall etc. The Democrats would finally find a “good” reason for impeachment. Would the Trump administration be able to survive it? Who knows?

Looking at the top of the walls. Any that are flat or angled outwards can be scaled by use of grafting hooks. By the round top ones offer, No support for the hooks to grab on to.
Just my two cents.

interesting, I didn’t know there were sound reasons for the bollard designs, I thought it was just some cheap ass corner cutting. of the prototypes the half-bollard half-solid wall with the tube on top seems to have a lot going for it. But still, how hard would it be to notch two bollards just a bit then bottle-jack them apart enough to wiggle through?

You do what you have to do.

I don’t care if they patrol the construction with Apache Longbows.

They can patrol the Democrats with those too.
