In a column for Fox News Thursday, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich wrote he believes Washington will experience a ‘great political surprise,’ in 2018. The reason? Payback for lying about President Trump and his accomplishments.

“The great political surprise of 2018 will be the size of the Republican victory,” contends the Trump surrogate.

Gingrich writes:

After members of the elite media have spent two years savaging President Trump, lying about Republican legislation, and reassuring themselves that Republican defeat was inevitable, the size of the GOP victory in 2018 will be an enormous shock. […]

Although I wouldn’t go so far as to say that having a flawed candidate gives license to the opponent’s side to register out of state voters or to use other means of cheating.

I disagree. Now that sexual allegations succeeded in turning a red state blue, and that an election was certified despite thousands of out of state voters swarming into Alabama, expect both strategies to cause an absolute wipe out in the Senate and the House.

Trump better get done what he can before that.

McConnell’s “Moore take down” strategy is going to come back to bite him in the ass.

Most definitely the Moore situation will repeat. Drag up 3 lying whores and your opponent is finished.

That is certainly one way to look at it and I agree with you to some degree but people would be foolish to simply explain it away as an anomaly.

The Democrats lost election after election once Obama was elected and the same can happen to Trump if people assume it’s in the bag.

I understand what you’re saying but the media is blasting Trump nonstop 24/7.

That is going to have an impact on some people.

In addition, blacks went to vote in Alabama like never before.

Yes Moore was a bad candidate but he did win the primary.

I’m not sure it will repeat but my point is don’t let your guard down and assume winning is in the bag.

I dont agree the dems are whistling past the graveyard. Frankly, I think Republicans are as they dismiss what happened in Alabama. The dems are organized and the base wants Trump impeached. That’s a war cry that can carry them to victory if we don’t watch it.

I like Bannon but he is a bot of a wild card now. If he backs hard core types, who knows what can happen.

I forgot to mention they also need the “Republicam” leadership to support their candidates.

I don’t think Moore lost because people ‘thought it was in the bag’. He lost because enough Republican voters couldn’t bear the thought of voting for him, so they wrote in the name of another Republican—I don’t think too many voted for the Democrat. The democrats, seeing blood in the water did turn out. Moore lost, but Republicans did get more votes in the race.

That said, I don’t think that President Trump’s supporters are blasé and I don’t think they will be next November—but we’ll see.
