Do you have ANY actual knowledge of the breed? I have never nor will I ever own one but I actually took the time to do a smidgen of research ... it would behoove you to do likewise.

Agree completely. With ant dog, though, mistreatment can cause undesirable disposition.

If you had done even the tiniest bit of research we would be talking about the prevalence of this breed amongst the more irresponsible, criminal and violent elements of society rather than your dismissal of a position based on your emotional response.
Sadly, we are not.

We have one in the (quiet, suburban) neighborhood. Owner has named him “Kilo”.

Sounds suspicious to me.

Some truth in what you say, though I believe you overstate the danger based on news reports. Anyone having these dogs should have to take them to a training school of some sort.

Now that all the regular civilized breeds are out of the breeding mix, what’s left are loose pit bulls mating, irresponsible owners not caring where their thug dogs roam. Takes big bucks to find a regular breed. There just aren’t the options of the decent neighborhood mutt litter, like the days of old.

That's right...Breeders have unionized...Many or most will not sell you a dog unless you sign an agreement that you will have your new pet neutered so it can not breed and be a competitor...

If a family wants a pet dog but can't afford the crazy prices they charge for what once were common dogs they have little choice but to get a pit bull...That's all that's available...People can't give them away fast enough...

Pit bulls have a bad rap. I’ve heard of golden retrievers doing this too.

One of those will cost you 350-500 bucks, on up...You can get pit bulls for nothing...And they're cute when they're puppies...Pit bulls have come to out number all other breeds put together...it's likely the sheer numbers of these dogs that makes their attacks top the chart...

Retrievers bite you and it hurts...Pit bulls bite you and kill you...So they aren't getting a bad rap...like getting bitten by a lizard compared to getting bitten by an alligator...

Agreed there but I am not listening to news. I have read up on the breed. My lady neighbor has one and she is not physically capable of handling the dog even if it is on a leash. Many men cannot either. But the same can be said for numerous other breeds yet it doesn’t matter because those dogs are not genetically disposed to kill with the jaws and tremendous strength to do so.

We had one year old. It was a well known amdloved neighborhood friendly dog. But once it tore into the kid the neighbors had to shoot it to get it off after it was too late. The beat on the thing with shovels to no avail.

Cars don’t run into houses where you live?

Are you talking about cars that aren't being controlled by people? The dog attacks are usually when their owners aren't around or are unable to control the dogs.

Think you’re safe in your house? Bet you’ve got locks on the doors.

I feel safe in my house. As safe as I do when I'm out for a walk. Sure there's always the possibility that a meteor will fall from the sky and hit me, but I don't worry about stuff like that.

FWIW, one door on my house has a working lock. It's a rarity that I use it though since the locks on the rest of the doors don't work. It's somewhere on my to-do list to install operational locks on the other doors. The existing ones broke over the years. Someday maybe I'll get around to replacing them. I don't feel any real rush about it. It's been over twenty years since I had my house all locked up. My garage and some parts of my house have never had access limited by locks.

Any medium (25-60 lb) to large (60-175 lb) dog can kill you.
The only difference between Pit Bulls and MOST other dogs is the size to strength ratio.
Huskies, Akitas, Malamutes, German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Jack Russel Terriers, Australian Shepherds, take your pick, any of these dogs can and do kill people and they are popular breeds.
Pit Bulls are naturally tough, strong, aggressive dogs.
I have one Pit in my pack right now, he has been involved in one and only one fight with another pack member. Within a week of Billy joining our family he got into a fight with George (an 89 pound Rottweiler), Billy weighed in at 47 pounds when he picked the fight.
It was a dominance fight and they both learned within 30 seconds who was the dominant male in our pack, that would be ME.
Billy has been with us for 7 years now and there haven’t been any more confrontations, in fact Billy and George are good friends now and even sleep on the same doggy bed.
Trust me people, it’s not all NATURE, most of it is NURTURE.
Every dog has an individual personality, every responsible owner has to understand that personality and DEAL with it.

Sounds like you’ve assessed your threat level and acted accordingly. I do the same. Neighbor got burglarized over the 4;th of July I have ‘t changed anything, even though I’m vulnerable. But I’m usually home at night. You think these people have control over their dogs? Leashes, maybe. Few people have real voice- command of their dogs.

There are Rottweiler, Boxer, Shepherd, and many other dog caused deaths every year, not all in the US of course, but they happen.
Of course the ENEMEDIA has decided to highlight Pit Bull deaths here because they are the dogs of drug dealers, gang bangers, and athlete thugs.
What would the world say if Michael Vick had been fighting Shepherds and French Poodles?
And yes Shepherds and Poodles do kill people.

Well, I own one and I have never done ANY drugs, don’t manufacture or sell’em either.
I also have six other dogs in my pack of various breeds.
If that’s the way you judge people, I guess I would have to say you just went down a few notches in my opinion.
And I don’t even know you.

I sleep with my 100 lb female rottie every night. She likes to cuddle, and doesn’t mind if I snore, or have to get up at night.

All dogs can bite.

BUT

Comparing pit bulls and golden retrievers is a bit of a stretch. If and that is a huge IF a golden bites it’s usually a nip, not a full latch on and shake as a pit bull does.

I have a chocolate lab, and I know that she will bite if we (and especially my son) are threatened in any way. She will give plenty of warning though with the raised hackles, growling/barking, and bared teeth. As long as she doesn’t see you as a threat, she is just a big ol’ ham that wants belly rubs.

And utility meters of people stealing services.

You’d be surprised as to how many pit bulls are found chained to or near the gas meters.
