The US is preparing plans to deliver a bloody nose attack against North Korea to knock out its nuclear weapons program.
The White House has dramatically ramped up its military plans amid fears that diplomacy wont thwart North Korean despot Kim Jong Un from making good on his threats, sources told the UKs Telegraph.
One option is destroying a launch site before the rogue regime uses it for a new missile test, while another is targeting weapons stockpiles, according to the news outlet.
The Trump administration hopes that pre-emptive action would show the trigger-happy dictator that the United States is serious about stopping his bellicose pursuits and persuading him to negotiate.
The Telegraph cited three anonymous sources, one inside the administration and two former officials familiar with the White House thinking.
The Pentagon is trying to find options that would allow them to punch the North Koreans in the nose, get their attention and show that were serious, a former US security official briefed on policy told the Telegraph.
President Trumps decision to launch 59 cruise missiles against a Syrian airfield in response to the countrys chemical weapons attack that killed more than 80 civilians is considered an indication of his resolve, the paper reported.

“If an attack were to hurt him, he’d probably fold like a card table. “
That is my assessment, and apparently the assessment of some in the Pentagon. n fact they may have internal comms from Norklandia substantiating it.
Take out his nuke capacity (as much as we can) in a sudden overwhelming hit. Leave his conventional forces unmolested. Leave him with his security blanket and see what happens.
“IOW, there wont be an attack. This is the Pentagon and the CIA putting out deza in the press to try and foment some sort of leadership crisis in the military/party structure so someone will dispose of Kim.”
I read an account of Stalin’s final hours, with his remaining generals gathered outside his sickroom, afraid to act.
Finally, Khrushchev went inside and closed the door. According to this account, no one knows what happened in that room, but when he came out, Stalin was dead.
It can be very, very hard to assassinate murderous dictators like Stalin and Saddam.
If you wish for peace then prepare for war.
Si vis pacem, para bellum. If public schools taught only one thing, that should be the thing.
US preparing bloody nose attack on North Korea
BS wishful thinking by the BS msm. Hoping for a major issue to burn ink on. Morons.
“Hitler didnt. He made the allies destroy Germany all the way to the door of his bunker.”
Hitler had probable cause to believe he would eventually prevail. If he believed from the onset he and his nation were doomed to complete destruction he might have altered his course.
And that is the stark reality the Norklandians are facing.
Exactly. Then follow up with a propaganda war to try to get his followers to turn on him.
“Then again, I could be wrong.”
Even if this strategy is an abysmal failure resulting in general war in Northeast Asia, it’s better to get on with it now rather than 1, 2 or five years from now.
Germany might have prevailed if Russia remained her ally.
That is the fear, but if they do that they are dead. And they know it.
Good point. I can only get worse from here on out. More weapons, the spread of nukes to terrorist countries by NK.
Something should have been done years ago.
“However, Hitler had his devout followers in the rank and file.”
Hitler had nothing on the Norks. After all, the Germans were presumably sane before Hitler swept their reason away, but Kim’s soldiers were born into institutional insanity.
If a person’s every idea is insane because that’s all he’s been taught, is he insane? And does that matter?
“I wonder how many of the rank and file under the little tyrant would turn on him in a second. Or maybe a day, if things were going poorly.”
The tendency will be to fight to the death.
“It sounds like life in North Korea is pretty bad.”
Horrible beyond the imagining of most Americans, but the best of what there is goes to the military. At least they eat.
Some years ago one of the dead Kims had to prohibit daylight burials, because the starving were digging up the deceased and eating them.
Seconded. No 'bloody nose' for these rabid dogs -- with half of their artillery pointed at Seoul, anything less would be the certain total destruction of that city. Simply can't take the chance.
I just hope that all assets planned to be delivered for such an endevour are being replaced now. This fancy hardware of ours isn't built overnight, and with the possibility of things getting bigger, we need to be ready ahead of time.
The U.S. has proven a few times now how overwhelming and complete our initial operations can be. The less time we take in turning selected areas of North Korea into smoking craters, the better.
“The tendency will be to fight to the death.”
Absolutely true if we invade with an army.
Even in the olden days the Norklandians were known as committed, and CAPABLE fighters. They would exact a high penalty from an invading force.
No doubt.
If there's one thing history has proven, it is that maniacal dictators don't like to die alone.
“If there’s one thing history has proven, it is that maniacal dictators don’t like to die alone. “
Therefore the strategy of taking out the nuke capability and leaving his conventional forces intact.
Leave his security blanket and borders intact.
Even China would not act against that strategy.
An act of war is not “ok” just because the US says it is.
The way to deal with a petulant child is to put them in time out. Ignore them. Don’t engage them, or their friends. Stop trade with China and Russia. Suck it up for a few months.
Killing a few million people in Seoul is not the action of a sane person.
“And that is the stark reality the Norklandians are facing.”
It seems almost certain that fewer than a hundred people in NK are in any way aware of that.
“An act of war is not ok just because the US says it is.”
That depends on our motives. In this case it would be more than “ok;” it would be meritorious.
No, but I’ll go pick up a copy and read it. Thanks.
“Decapitation” would be much better.
But “Bloody nose” I said better than “stubbed toe” I suppose.
