Hitler had probable cause to believe he would eventually prevail. If he believed from the onset he and his nation were doomed to complete destruction he might have altered his course.

Excellent point. Wonder if he would have turned on the Russians. Germany lost a lot having to fight a multi-front war and they lost a lot of resources during the invasion of Russia. Napoleon, too.

Germany might have prevailed if Russia remained her ally.
