What is missing in most of the comments here is organization. Nobody wins a conflict without a good basic organization of fighters and supplies. A resistance needs a competent, knowledgeable and steady organization behind it. So far no conservative/right group has come into existence that would be capable of making an orderly and sensible central command of resistance. Think about it.

I would expect organization to arise quickly on both sides. I’m not sure what that does to the duration of the resulting unpleasantness.

Here is a good book on exactly that subject. Available free on Archive.org (scroll down past their plea for $$$ to see the various formats.)
My take away from the book other than its emphasis on organization: No collaborators or enemy sympathizers can be allowed to live in your area of operations. None.

A common goal is a pretty good catalyst for organization, whatever would spark off such a thing would also ignite leadership. In times of crisis, there seem to always be those with natural leadership abilities and that brings about organization, planning.
